I remembered this bandwagon from a while back started by [name_f]Lily[/name_f] @AerieEerie ! I thought it is a really cool idea to share some undiscovered gems that I love.
As always, feel free to correct any errors in meanings; I got them all from BehindTheName!
Iâm super fond of Alizee, Malou (although my understanding was this was a smoosh of Marie-Louise, which would give the meaning bitter + famous in battle? But maybe the Dutch origins are different), Amparo, Luljeta, Lilavati (LILAVATI!!! I truly never thought Iâd see another berry mention this name, sheâs so stunning. I have had Arabella Lilavati Jane on my GP list for years), Mirabai, Wycliffe, Auden (although this one doesnât seem like that much of a secret to me), Enoch (although, again, doesnât seem like much of a secret? I know two in real life lol plus a dog with this name! Maybe Iâm just in a pocket of Enochs lol), Zephan (never heard this before @Saracita00 used this for her son, but I agree itâs a gem!).
Admittedly most of the names Iâve found as best kept secrets are no longer secrets⊠names like Fenna, Madelief, Fiala, etc. which are either now in Nameberryâs name database or very loved by other berries. Oh, maybe Sverre, but itâs fairly popular in at least one of the Nordic countries, I believe. It means âwild, swinging, spinningâ which I think is just the most fun meaning! Or my beloved Danish LĂŠrke, which just means âlarkâ. Admittedly the ĂŠ wouldnât work well in America but I think sheâs stunning. Other than that, maybe a few Zulu names (like Isisa, I adore Isisa!) and some of the more rare Bible names, like Aquila, Barzillai, Pudens, Clemens, Junia, Euodia/Evodie I would love to see catch on. I feel like Everly and Evolet have been talked about quite a bit the last couple weeks - I would love to see Evodie get some love too!
I took âbelovedâ from the [name_f]Maria[/name_f] side! There are lots of suspected origins for [name_f]Maria[/name_f], and BtN says that âbelovedâ is the most likely, so that was where I was coming from! And now I just realised that I typed ârenouncedâ instead of ârenownedâ lol.
Aww that is gorgeous! I totally agree - [name_f]Lilavati[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
That is so fun! [name_m]Sverre[/name_m] is really cool.
Oooo these are awesome! Iâve never heard of a few, so thank you for bringing them up!

ahh may be that is a recent development, for years when I come across [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and her variants, most sites stated there was dispute on where [name_f]Mary[/name_f] had come from but most sites defaulted to âbitterâ and referenced potential other references, but Iâd never heard âloved/belovedâ. Given the Hebrew story in [name_f]Egypt[/name_f] itâs hard for me to believe that they wouldâve willingly used an Egyptian name + the whole reference to [name_f]Mara[/name_f] in the book of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], âbitterâ makes most sense to me but I certainly donât claim to be the expert other than having read my Bible lol. Itâs certainly possible they couldâve pulled a name from [name_f]Egypt[/name_f], as BtN also lists [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_m]Moses[/name_m] as having Egyptian origins as well (which I guess means theyâre right about all of them⊠or wrong about all of them, ha! And I usually trust BtN.).
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I could introduce you to a few new names!
[name_f]Pipsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Luljeta[/name_f]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] met a [name_f]Mariluz[/name_f] (mash up of [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and Luz) and she reminded me of your [name_f]Maricruz[/name_f] with I also love! [name_m]Just[/name_m] popping in to tell you this because I thought of you!
I love all the combos youâve made! [name_f]Pipsa[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is simply adorable, and [name_f]Junie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Apricot[/name_f] sounds straight out of a spunky childrenâs storybook.
[name_f]True[/name_f]! I was actually inspired by a combo my sister had put together from my name suggestions for her 3rd baby (Juniper Janeâso adorably cute!!!)
