I just wanted to ask what are some of the best portmanteaus you’ve heard and whether there would be any you would consider using. I know this is a terrible example, but I truly love the sound of JonBenet. Not for the name and I would certainly never use anyway. That is one association that I doubt will ever go away. However, it does so pleasing with that crisp French ending, so I just wondered if you could think of a double barrel name that has a similar feel.
Portmanteau is a combination of two or more words/names put together (in case I didn’t explain it well.)
Thanks!
P.S I apologize if anyone find my JonBenet [name]Ramsey[/name] reference offensive, I just like the sound purely based on aesthetics.
I adore her name too! I find myself thinking about [name]Benet[/name] as a middle name for a lot of my favorites, but the tragic association overshadows it. (Also I’m afraid it would get mispronounced as [name]Bennett[/name].)
To answer your original question, I only have a few in the back of my head to honor multiple people at once, and I would only use them in the middle name spot. Jaselynn (pronounced like [name]Jocelyn[/name] but with a long A) would honor my husband, his mother, and my twin sister all in one shot, and I know it won’t get good feedback on here but I find the sound delightful. I would also consider combining my sisters’ middle names into something like [name]Gracelynn[/name].
The first that comes to mind for me is AnnaSophia (as in the actress AnnaSophia [name]Robb[/name]). I’ve always found it to be a stunning name, though I’m usually not a fan of portmanteaus.
My recent crush is on [name]Rosa[/name] [name]Maria[/name] as a double name (Rosamaria? RosaMaria? [name]Rosa[/name]-[name]Maria[/name]?) So much more flair and funkiness than [name]Rosemary[/name], and a bit against my usual style but I just can’t help loving it.
I worked with a woman called Sharney for her parents [name]Sharon[/name] and [name]Rodney[/name]. I have a friend [name]Darryl[/name] for her parents [name]Sheryl[/name] and [name]Darnell[/name].
My favourite is my sister’s middle: Arlyce. It’s a portmanteau of my grandparents [name]Arlene[/name] and [name]Wallace[/name].
I really like [name]Maya[/name]-[name]Louise[/name] and [name]Ann[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. I can’t think of any portmanteaus that I like or know of.
My friend told me about a couple she knew who were torn between [name]Ariadne[/name] and Addaline, and so they nearly stuck the poor child with Addriadne. (Thankfully, they went with [name]Violet[/name] instead.) But yeah, I can’t really think of any other portmanteau names.
I do truly love [name]LeeAnn[/name], [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Grace[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] but I guess they are more double first names.
My cousin’s name is [name_f]Karlee[/name_f], which is a name on its own, but hers is technically a portmanteau. It’s a mash up of [name_f]Karen[/name_f] (my mom’s name) and [name_f]LeeAnn[/name_f] (her other aunt’s name).
Right now the name that is the #1 contender for my baby girl is [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], which I know is a name all by itself, but my great grandparents names are [name_u]Rosario[/name_u] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] so I liked that it was a mash of their names.
Other names:

I had a friend who was considering [name_u]Jaycee[/name_u] for a girl because her S/O’s name began with J and her name began with C, but I’m not sure that counts?
I also worked with a Kerrilyn named after her mom’s best friend and her grandmother.
