[name]Mare[/name] just makes me think of the horse… I think [name]Mae[/name] is the best, but [name]Martha[/name], imo, is short enough as it is.
As a [name]Martha[/name] myself (no nn used), I voted for ‘Lady,’ but [name]Mae[/name] would be my second choice.
All the Marthas I know go by “[name]Martha[/name]” or “[name]Marty[/name]”.
[name]Mae[/name] was the best of those options but my favourite and the ones used by Marthas I have known is [name]Mattie[/name]. [name]Marty[/name]/[name]Marti[/name] is fine too, but I think [name]Mattie[/name] is so sweet.
I’d have to agree with you stripedsocks. I really don’t like [name]Marty[/name] at all. And like I said, I love the full version as well. I just don’t know if I can get past the [name]Marty[/name] nn and am trying to think of clever ways to avoid it so I don’t lose the name over it.
