So I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and other then the Gaelic spelling [name_f]Brighid[/name_f]/[name_f]Brigid[/name_f] I didn’t realise how many ways it could be spelt. I’ve had a few people tell me [name_f]Brigit[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Brighid[/name_f],[name_f]Brigid[/name_f], [name_f]Brigette[/name_f], [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]. Opinions needed, how would you spell it and why? I’m partial to the Gaelic spelling otherwise the one I’ve seen most is [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. Also if you want to throw in some middle name or sibling name suggestions feel free!
I really like the way you spelt it in the title as [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. My second favourite is [name_f]Brigette[/name_f]. 
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is absolutely lovely, as is [name_f]Brighid[/name_f]. I think of a sea breeze, freckles, and chunky cardigans.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] bear in mind, though, that the spelling you choose affects the pronunciation. [name_f]Brighid[/name_f] is pronounced “breed” in Irish, while [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] “bree-zheet” in [name_m]French[/name_m]. I wouldn’t use those spellings unless you intend to use their authentic pronunciations. [name_f]Brigette[/name_f], meanwhile, seems like an attempt to frenchify [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] without using the actual [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f], which seems unnecessarily complicated.

I agree with @kew’s post. I would pronounce [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] like [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] [name_f]Bardot[/name_f], and to my knowledge, [name_f]Brighid[/name_f] is pronounced more like “Breej” or “Breed” rather than simply being a different spelling of [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], but I do not speak Irish so I am not 100% certain.
Of the ones you’ve listed, I like [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] the most. [name_f]Bridgette[/name_f] is the one I’m ultimately partial to though since that’s my middle name… Haha.
[name_f]Brigitte[/name_f], [name_f]Brighid[/name_f], etc. are pronounced differently from what you want, aren’t they?
[name_f]Bridgit[/name_f] might be another option for you, as well.

I love [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]! I like that spelling, because it just seems the most simple. [name_f]Brighid[/name_f] is tempting since it’s authentic, but it may make life more difficult for everyone. On a side note, I love [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] too! It’s perfect w/[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. It’s my sweet baby nephew’s name, so I may be a tad biased. Although, I actually suggested it to them. .

Seeing as I am a brigid, I felt the need to put my opinion in this.
I will be honest it took me years to like my name and even more to love it. I know love it. Spelling is always hard, everyone always spells it wrong. I have to spell it out all the time. My own aunts dont spell it right and I’ve been there neice for 27 years. You know so it’s weird. I’ve been called [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] because a teacher smooshed my name and last name together to come up with my name. I’ve been asked to pronounce it multiple times in my life.
I love the spelling of my name now. Because I love how much it connects to my irish heritage. I love saint brigid and the stories behind her. My moms family is still in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and they own a bar right on brigids well. I find that a cool connection for me. I’ve learned to love it. I will say it is hard to have the spelling, cause spelling it out constantly at everything is so annoying. But, I’m over it now that school has passed.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce it like the other spellings or is it more the the Breej pronunciation out of curiousity?
I am a [name_f]Brighid[/name_f], I was born in [name_u]America[/name_u] but live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. I pronounce it [name_m]Bridge[/name_m]-id, I only occasionally get it pronounce breed and only ever here in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and when people do I tend to humor them since they’re honestly more correct then I am. Some people, mainly DH, call me [name_f]Bridie[/name_f] which is the classic Irish nickname for [name_f]Brighid[/name_f].
I always have to clarify it the first time, especially back home, but people are generally very accepting of it and other than some stand out jerky substitute teachers I’ve never had any really problem with it. Spelling is difficult, but at this point I basically collect Starbucks misspellings of my name and it doesn’t bother me, really it only makes people spelling your name right more special.
