So i think I have decided on [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] for my daughters name to go with [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and will think about whether to actually have [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] on the birth cert or just stick at [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] alone… but what do u think is the best spelling…

I really like it as a nn for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. But on it’s own spelled either [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is best in my opinion. Gorgeous choice, by the way.
I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is the more traditional spelling. I have never seen it spelled [name_f]Lylah[/name_f]. I think the y and the h each harden the name a little, so I might choose one or the other but not both.
I like Deliliah or [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] won’t get mispronounced which I think is very important. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] would be my second choice on it’s own. I don’t think you need an extra ‘h’ in the name.
My favorite is [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]! Very easy to pronounce and spell for everyone.

I have a friend who spells it [name_f]Lylah[/name_f]. I like either that, or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].
Either [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as a first name or [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] with [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] as her nn is preference. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] would give you more options.
I do worry [name_f]Lila[/name_f] will get pronounced [name_u]LEE[/name_u] LA instead of LIE LA.
Not too sure about the Y as surname is [name_m]Williams[/name_m] i quite like the matching I’s which is why i orginally thought [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]… also still debating whether it should be [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]! Its a hard one!
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is very sweet and it makes the pronunciation more clear. People might mispronounce [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as Lill (the first syllable in [name_f]Lilly[/name_f])-uh.
I would use [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
(I know it technically isn’t the spelling contained in the name but the more important thing for me is pronunciation)

I think the ‘h’ at the end of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is unnecessary… Yes it is the original spelling in [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] but it isn’t necessary for a nickname.

Would she go by [name_f]Lila[/name_f]/[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] all the time? If so, don’t bother with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] on the BC. It’s a beautiful name but it’s just an extra syllable - is it worth it?
I know a girl called [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but she’s gone by [name_f]Liza[/name_f] from birth, 100% of the time. She feels so disconnected from [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]… like it’s not her real identity, just a similar name that she’s ‘officially’ called. She’s planning on changing it to just [name_f]Liza[/name_f] when it’s legal.
I mean, I’m not saying that this situation is inevitable in all cases, but if you’ll always think of her as [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], having [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] on the Birth Certificate may become a bit strange for you after a while.
But if she’ll be sometimes [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], sometimes [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], then put [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] on the BC. Because it is really really gorgeous.
I am undecided over [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] alone or [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] but if I did choose [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] on the BC I think i would use both im not normally a fan of names that get shortened continously I have to agree its pointless me calling her [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] if I just use [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] all the time! I know a [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] who is [name_f]Madelene[/name_f] but never ever uses it!

Precisely this. I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] as a short for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. With the ‘h’ I doubt anyone will say it wrong. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (without an h) is a different name with different origins and can be pronounced ‘lee-la’ as well as ‘leye-la’
Unless you’re totally in love with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], if the biblical connotation is too much for you - just avoid it. It is a beautiful name, but if anything, that would put me off too. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is lovely on it’s own (or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], depending on what you go for… I don’t personally have much of a preference).
