Recently I have been drawn to the nickname [name]Beth[/name], but unfortunately don’t really want to use [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Elisabeth[/name]. So I’m trying to find an alternative full name. First I thought of [name]Bertha[/name], which might shorten to [name]Beth[/name], except that I really, really dislike [name]Bertha[/name] (I probably don’t even have to say this). I’ve also thought of [name]Annabeth[/name], which I do like, but as [name]Annabel[/name] was a favourite of mine it’s not ideal. [name]Do[/name] you have any creative suggestions for a full name for [name]Beth[/name]? It can be a bit of a stretch, that’s okay. I’m not really sure there even is much by way of full names but any bright ideas welcome!
[name]Bethany[/name]
[name]Bethel[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name] (might be a stretch)
All I can think of other than the ones you posted. I’ve had a special place in my heart for the name [name]Beth[/name] since I read [name]Little[/name] Women.
You didn’t mention [name]Bethany[/name] or [name]Elsbeth[/name] or [name]Elspeth[/name] or [name]Elisabetta[/name]. I like [name]Annabeth[/name]. Maybe some other-beth smush or hyphen name? [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]? Sabbath is kinda weird or [name]Bethesda[/name]? [name]Bette[/name]?
I did consider [name]Bethesda[/name] briefly but I spent a few of my childhood years right outside [name]Washington[/name], D.C. in [name]Bethesda[/name], Maryland, so that one’s out! I do like [name]Elsbeth[/name]. Would [name]Elspeth[/name] be too much of a stretch to get to [name]Beth[/name]?
I think [name]Bethany[/name] is really pretty. You could pair it with one of the more exotic of your favorite names to make it feel fresh. [name]Bethany[/name] [name]Winter[/name] feels like a crisp breeze to me, I really like it.
Thank you! I really like [name]Bethany[/name] [name]Winter[/name].
What do you guys think of [name]Beatha[/name], it’s Irish and pronounced Beh-tha. It can also be spelled [name]Betha[/name]. Is it too confusing to spell it in its original form? Is it even a nice name?
I know a three-year-old named [name]Beth[/name], in full. Hers is not a nickname. I think [name]Beth[/name] can stand alone just find! I also like the above poster’s idea of a double-barrel name. Consider:
[name]Darcy[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Josie[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Katie[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
[name]Rosa[/name]-[name]Beth[/name]
I figure if we can pull [name]Bess[/name] from [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Beth[/name] can come from [name]Elspeth[/name] if you so desire! In fact, [name]Elspeth[/name] and [name]Elsbeth[/name] come out pretty much the same for me anyway. I’m also a big fan of [name]Beth[/name] as a full name. I think it stands on its own. Then again, I have a stepsister who’s just [name]Beth[/name], so I may be biased!
I’m glad you like it! I’ve been really into the idea of nicknames that smush first & middle names! My name is [name]Tara[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] & my mom calls me Tee [name]Lynn[/name] or T. [name]Lynn[/name] quite a bit…I really think Tealin is cute & wouldn’t mind being named that! It’s a good way to get to things that might not be your style for a given name like you might like [name]Teagan[/name], but find [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Galina[/name] more wearable!
I am in love w/ the name [name]Beth[/name] and so wanted to use it this time. I planned to use [name]Bethany[/name] as the first name but just call her [name]Beth[/name]. I think it is sooo sweet. But then I realized my older daughter is Mhairi [name]Elizabeth[/name] so probably not fair to use [name]Beth[/name] for next child. I mean dif names but still so close. Another name I’ve come across is [name]Lilibeth[/name] which I think is adorable!
