[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is and has been my favourite name for a while now. The only thing is, I dislike all the nicknames. My question is this: do you think it’s possible for [name_u]Corrie[/name_u]/[name_f]Cora[/name_f] to be a nn? The letters are all there… but is it too much of a stretch?
It is quite a stretch, but I think a nickname can be anything you like really. You might not be able to stop other people calling her [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] or [name_f]Tori[/name_f] though, or she may choose a different nickname later on.
In terms of unusual nicknames for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], I think [name_f]Vita[/name_f] would be fab!
I’d never have thought of [name_u]Corrie[/name_u] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] since the “c” sound isn’t that prominent in [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], so it doesn’t seem as obvious, but seeing it written out it definitely makes sense. It’s the kind of nickname you’d have to point out or explain, but it could work.
Another nickname I’ve seen for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is [name_f]Vika[/name_f] (vee-kah but you could pronounce it vick-ah too).
I don’t think [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] needs to have a nickname though, in fact most of the Victorias I’ve known didn’t.
i think [name_f]Cora[/name_f] works just fine!
Some suggestions: [name_u]Ori[/name_u]
[name_f]Oria[/name_f]
[name_f]Via[/name_f] (vee-ah)
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
I’ve seen [name_u]Rory[/name_u] suggested as a nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] before. Or even Torah/[name_u]Tora[/name_u] could work if it being the name for the Jewish bible doesn’t bother you (in Australia I think more people would think of the snowboarder first)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Corrie[/name_u] are in no way instinctive nicknames to use for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], but it does work. It’d probably take a bit to actually get others to use it, but it isn’t a huge stretch.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]/[name_u]Corrie[/name_u] are a stretch but I think nicknames can be a little bit out there, so if that’s what you want to use go for it. Another unusual possibilities include: [name_f]Plum[/name_f], for the variety of plum called [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]; [name_f]Queenie[/name_f] for [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]; [name_f]Tia[/name_f]; [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]; Vix; [name_u]Tora[/name_u]; [name_f]Ria[/name_f]/[name_u]Rio[/name_u]; [name_f]Toya[/name_f]; [name_m]Kick[/name_m]
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Vica[/name_f]/[name_f]Vika[/name_f] and [name_f]Vita[/name_f]
I named my daughter [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. The middle name is after my older sister. We ended up calling her [name_f]Tori[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] as a nickname and once in awhile we shorten it to TJ! It’s such a beautiful name and any nickname for it would be appropriate except [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]! I cringe when anyone calls her [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]. I’m just not a fan of the name! TJ is very cute! I usually only call her [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] when she’s in trouble, and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] when she’s in big trouble! Haha:D:D:
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f] is cute but to use for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], really wants a V. middle name as well. [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] - [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]. Otherwise it seems to suit [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]/[name_f]Viviana[/name_f]/[name_f]Viveka[/name_f] more.
My very favourite nickname for Victora is [name_f]Vita[/name_f]. There was a famous author and garden designer named [name_f]Vita[/name_f] who was really a [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
I’ve heard [name_f]Vika[/name_f] (vee-ka) for [name_f]Viktoria[/name_f], it’s Eastern European.
