[name_f]My[/name_f] main character has recently acquired two horses. Since her brothers spend most of their time as swans, she is going to name the horses after kinds of birds. I have a list of bird names I like but their names don’t have to be chosen from it. Since the horses are always together I want their names to go well together.
Genre of [name_u]Story[/name_u]: [name_m]Young[/name_m] Adult fantasy
Time Period/Location: a fantasy world loosely based on 3rd century [name_u]Egypt[/name_u] and [name_u]Persia[/name_u]

Already Considered (if relevant): Nightingale, [name_m]Crow[/name_m], [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
Character 2:
Character Description: A dark brown stallion with flaxen mane and tail and white stockings. He is the black mare’s mate.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite pair so far is [name_u]Dove[/name_u] & Swift but I’m not sure I want such a soft name for the mare.
@maddyelizabeth I like a lot of those names but most of them aren’t birds.
@sweekune Kestrel and [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] are both good. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they work well together?
Right now the pairs I’m considering are: (M/F)
Swift & [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] & Kestrel
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] & [name_m]Crow[/name_m]
Kingfisher & Nightingale
I had a look through my bird book and picked out bird names that I think could be used to name your horses.
Stallion
[name_u]Falcon[/name_u]
[name_f]Starling[/name_f]
Mynas
Darter
Shrike
Ibis
Nighthawk
Condor
Eider
how about [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u], or possibly [name_u]Raven[/name_u] for the first horse and Thrasher, since I live in the brown thrasher state. Well, I think so.
