I’m always brainstorming names, and love the name [name]Bode[/name]. Then I thought about [name]Boden[/name]? I thought [name]Bode[/name] or [name]Bo[/name] would be a good nickname, and [name]Boden[/name] a little stronger formal name. What do you think?
At first glance, I thought it was [name]Borden[/name]. [name]Boden[/name] reminds me of Bowdoin College (pronounced the same way). I think that [name]Boden[/name] is cool in theory, but with [name]Bode[/name], I think of the words “bode” and “boding,” and I wonder if [name]Boden[/name] will be mispronounced as Bodd-in.
You may also like [name]Bodhi[/name] or [name]Bowman[/name].
Good luck!
It is too close to the slang term ‘bogan’.
I think in this case I would choose the name [name]Bohdan[/name] which is pronounced almost the same and has a more traditional feel to it. [name]Boden[/name] to me looks like an unusual name masquerading as trendy (via the [name]Jaden[/name]/[name]Braden[/name]/[name]Cohen[/name] theme).
Also, [name]Boden[/name] means “sheltered” which is often construed as a bad thing. [name]Bohdan[/name], on the other hand, is Scandinavian for “proud ruler” which is, in my opinion, a stronger choice.
I think [name]Bo[/name] or [name]Bode[/name] are great nickname choices for either of these.
I know a [name]Boden[/name] and I’ve always thought it’s a very interesting name, in that I had never heard of it before I met him. It also reminds me of bogan
Undecided…
[name]Boden[/name] is a British clothing company, fyi
Thanks for the thoughts. I actually love the clothing company [name]Boden[/name], but surprisingly didn’t think of it right away. They have awesome kids clothes too, btw. I was worried about people thinking it was bodd-in. Thanks again for the comments.
I immediately thought of the clothes, which I [name]LOVE[/name]!
I’m naming my son [name]Beau[/name]. Thinking of Beauden if I can’t find a middle name. I love the name
I like it a lot. It’s a really strong name but I also like the nickname [name]Bo[/name]. You get a thumbs up from me! Boys names are hard!
[name]Do[/name] you think the association with the clothing brand is too strong? In my house it’s common knowledge that [name]Boden[/name] makes clothing. However, I’m not naming my kid [name]Boden[/name] just because I like their clothes.
If it was only the clothing brand it would not be a problem but to be branded ’ a bogan’ is too unkind.
[name]Burton[/name] would be a good alternative.
I sort of like it. I like the way it sounds and [name]Bo[/name] is a cute nn. I really love [name]Bodhi[/name], I think this one was previously suggested. I had to look up “bogan” and I can see why/how the connection has made. It’s not very positive. I guess it really all depends on what part of the world you live in. I’m in [name]California[/name] so it was new to me. Then again I’m not the hippest cat out there
I am considering [name]Boden[/name], too b/c we love [name]Bo[/name] and [name]Bode[/name]! I never thought of it being pronouned any other way, either. It’s hard - I’m getting mixed reviews on it, as well, but I’m glad at least others are considering it. Did you decide for sure yet? I’m due 1/16 and this is our top choice if we have a boy, for right now.
I have the cutest nephew ever named [name]Boden[/name]! We call him [name]Bode[/name] for short.
I like Bodey for a nickname…think [name]Patrick[/name] Swayze in that surfing movie.
I like [name]Boden[/name] name
That is immediately what I thought of too.
Still, I think it’s a cute and unique name.
[name]Boden[/name] is OK . . . I really love the name [name]Bodhi[/name] (inspirational meaning below). You could still do the nn “[name]Bo[/name]” or “[name]Bode[/name].” However, when I brought up the name [name]Bodhi[/name] with my dh, he said it sounded too much like “Booty.” LOL He always finds the teasing potential in a name. I still think it’s a really cool name though.
“[name]Bodhi[/name] is a Sanskrit name translated as ‘enlightenment’ or ‘awakening’ which relates to a Buddhist concept, wherein [name]Bodhi[/name] is synonymous with the state of nirvana, being freed from hate, greed and ego. The [name]Bodhi[/name] tree is a large fig tree under which the founder of Buddhism received enlightenment.” - nameberry
I am naming my third son [name]Bodhi[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] it and I love [name]Bo[/name] also. I love [name]Beau[/name]. I tried all different kinds of spellings like Beaudi, [name]Bode[/name], Bodie. It’s hard. My other kids names are [name]Rocco[/name] and [name]River[/name].
