I really like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and it has a lovely meaning. [name_f]My[/name_f] only reservation with the name is I find it hard to picture on a woman in her 30s/40s. But that’s it.
I like the name [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]! Charming, vintage, and feels like a “nickname name” that can stand on its own.

I love [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]! I don’t think I would ever be brave enough to use (I’m pretty conservative when it comes to names), but it is such a sweet name, and I have always loved names that sound British, like [name_f]Bessie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u].
I like how @itsjustjack has picked some sophisticated names like [name_u]Louise[/name_u], [name_f]Therese[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. I think they balance out the nickname style of [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], while matching the British feel, so I would go for a name like that. Some other ideas are:
Bonnie is so happy and sweet

Bonnie is a very special name for me, as it was my late grandmother’s name! I think it’s really pretty and sweet, would love to meet one! It was quite common where I am throughout the 1940s-1960s, so I have no issues seeing it on an adult!

It honestly makes me think of bony.
A lovely, upbeat name.
This is such a great name!
My first association is [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] (played [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] in HP) and I think she is an awesome person overall.
My second association is a character on The Vampire Diaries. Another strong, independent woman!
It’s a NN to me.
I love the name [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], but it isn’t quite pretty sounding in my opinion, contrary to the meaning. The little girl (she’s not so little anymore) who played [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] Weasley in the films was called [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], I think. I’m expecting right now and [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is in the running! I don’t want to reveal what I’m planning, but I would probably pair with a very girly middle name. Like [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Alina[/name_f].
xx
I really like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]! [name_u]Bo[/name_u] and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] would be cute nns. It feels like it would grow with someone, which is nice.

Honest? Like, you said HONEST, so I’m not going to tone this down. This is kind of a rant so if you get offended by that sort of thing just skip the following paragraph.
It’s a bad given name. A cute nickname, but I really don’t like it as a given name. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] leading the command room. Or see it on a job application. Like, why [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] when you can use [name_u]James[/name_u]? I don’t see the point; You should give your child a choice. Realistically, they will probably abandon their nickname or replace it with something else. It might look cute on a toddler, but your little girl will soon outgrow her name & absolutely hate it, maybe even change it. Don’t worry, as a toddler, it won’t have to seem too grown-up. There are plenty of cute nicknames out there!
Good given names for [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]: [name_f]Bonita[/name_f], Bonamy, & any other name containing the latter B O & N in that order.
Apologies for the rant.
Yikes, I think it’s pretty rude and inappropriate to say that nickname names are terrible given names. You can not personally like them, and you can nicely say that, but this is not the way. You can be honest and still avoid making offensive statements like “this name is terrible!” [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] reading that after you just named your baby girl [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], or if your given name was [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f].
This is a safe community to talk to name lovers about names. It’s certainly one thing to bring up a genuine concern about the name (ie if it’s offensive in someway) or to let the user know you don’t care for it personally, respectfully. But, honestly, posts like this make me really uncomfortable and self conscious with sharing my own names.
I think Bonnie is really sweet! I love the suggestions of Bonnie Lavender and Bonnie Louisa!
@starless I never said anything about all nickname names. At least I didn’t mean to imply that. Some, like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], for example, sound fine. It’s just the juvenile ones.
Also, totally irrelevant & unrelated, but I really like your username.
