For this post start with any name (it doesnt work as well with super popular names in US or on this site) and begin your rabbit hole. The suggested name you decide to click on can be one you like the most, dislike the most, names youve never heard of etc.
If youre like me and intrigued by long messy rabbit holes or want a challenge, try clicking on a name you think will lead you to the longest messiet ending.
The end is reached once you can’t find any similar suggested names.

-if you reach a name page without any similar suggested names try searching the name and pick one of the similar names from your search results… sometimes there won’t be any
-if the name description contains name links like a variant or diminutive those can also count as a similar name
-if you get overwhelmed or the rabbit hole you’re on gets boring feel free to end on a name you like or set a goal to reach such as 10 names or a number youre comfy with and stop after that number

After I made it all the way from [name_f]Mary[/name_f] to [name_f]Winter[/name_f], I realized that the odds of it looping were very slim. It kept on diverging further every round.
I wanted to see if I could get this to work. I realized that choosing a name further down the list decreased the likelihood of a loop, as the names were further apart. So I tried again, this time choosing the top recommendation.

That looped instantly, which makes some sense as the names are closely interlaced. So I wanted to experiment further.

This was the same sort of feedback loop I anticipated triggering when I started this challenge – where two names or a larger set of names link to each other. I think with my previous test choosing names further apart on the recommended list mitigated looping.
I now wanted to try something in between these two extremes. I chose a less common starter name, and clicked on the third suggest name (2nd name on the left).

I’m not surprised that it was nature names that caused a multi-name feedback loop. I’ve seen these occur before when I’m clicking through the recommended names for ideas.
Playing the “classic” version of the game this time. Starting with something rarer, clicking on a name that intrigues me, until I hit a dead end (or get bored).
