Boy #5 on the way

So tired of boy names and now we’re just down to the rejects from other babies! We have super traditional taste, so I feel trapped, because even names like [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]Jeremiah[/name] sound way too “out there” for us. Our other boys are [name]Daniel[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Paul[/name]. Names that are out are [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Luke[/name], and [name]Michael[/name]. (close cousins) Our front runner is…drumroll…

[name]Andrew[/name]

Is that so lame and the most boring name ever? I like it enough, but it’s never risen to the top when our other boys came along. It does sound great with our last name. I have a new love affair with the name [name]Henrik[/name], but I think it just doesn’t fit. Other wild and crazy options:

[name]James[/name] (doesn’t sound good with our last name)
[name]Henrik[/name] (doesn’t fit with the others)
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Edward[/name] (already used as a middle for one of our other boys)
ummm…HELP!

Maybe the perfect middle name would help me get excited about [name]Andrew[/name].

I like [name]Drew[/name] more than [name]Andrew[/name] but that might kill the most classic feel?

I don’t see what is too out there about [name]Henry[/name]? [name]Henry[/name] is pretty staid and traditional sounding to me, a good match for your other ones? [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Jeremiah[/name] do seem to be another flavour.

Other classic no-fail names I could see meshing with [name]Daniel[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Paul[/name]:
[name]William[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name], [name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]

The first name that popped into my head after seeing your boy’s names was [name]Joseph[/name]. I have always like [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Joe[/name] is cool and masculine if you like nns.

Other suggestions:
[name]David[/name]
[name]Robert[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Mark[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]

I think [name]Joseph[/name] or [name]Andrew[/name] would sound great actually. [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Andrew[/name] or [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] would be a nice combo! Also suggestions of [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Isaac[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name] would be nice as well. I actually think [name]Andrew[/name] nn [name]Drew[/name] would be a handsome fit!

Along with the above suggestions (I really like [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]), here are some others that may fit. Sorry for any repeats, trying to avoid it.

[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Anthony[/name]
[name]Charles[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Harry[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Richard[/name]
[name]Steven[/name]/[name]Stephen[/name]

THanks, all. [name]Joseph[/name] is out because our last name starts with an F. So, it’s out for a middle name as well…Sad, because I love it!

From your list, I like [name]Andrew[/name] with [name]Daniel[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Paul[/name] and lots of the above suggestions. I think you could use [name]Henry[/name] too, but I would use [name]Henrik[/name] as a mn only. While [name]Edward[/name] would be fine, I wouldn’t use it if it’s already a mn for another son.

From the above suggestions, I also like: [name]Adam[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Richard[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Stephen[/name], and [name]William[/name]. My favorites are starred.

Some other possibilities:

[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Jacob[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name]

With [name]Daniel[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Paul[/name], my first thought was [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Mark[/name].

[name]Nicholas[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Richard[/name], [name]Stephen[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Todd[/name], [name]Trevor[/name], [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Anthony[/name], [name]Adam[/name], [name]Joshua[/name], [name]David[/name]…

the possibilities are pretty much endless!

I find your traditional style quite refreshing! 5 boys is a bit of a unique challenge, no ? : D

I really think [name]Henry[/name] would work, although I get that you’ve gone Biblical (and nearly all, but not all, New Testament) rather than generally traditional and that might be the odd feeling. But it really does still work! Especially since at least one other has a non-Biblical middle ([name]Edward[/name] - and yes, I would avoid re-using it if you can)

[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Andrew[/name] [name]Hendrik[/name] is quite handsome.

I agree with a pp, [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Mark[/name] both seem logical. I also quite like [name]David[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name] for you! Also [name]Simon[/name] but [name]Simon[/name] I wonder if it would be too much with [name]Peter[/name]? But I think it would be lost on most people, and people that get it would probably like it fine! Another few that would fit in naturally are:

[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]

Three others that fit in not by the Bible but by meaning and style
[name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Christian[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]

Good luck!

I actually love the name [name]Andrew[/name] and the nn’s [name]Drew[/name] or [name]Andy[/name] are really cool. Other suggestions:

[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Mark[/name]
[name]Adrian[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] (I think this can work
[name]Christopher[/name]
[name]David[/name]

[name]Bree[/name] xx

[name]Henry[/name] would work! And other popular but fitting names could be [name]Noah[/name], [name]Stephen[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Adam[/name], or [name]Thomas[/name]. Good luck!

I like [name]Henry[/name] with your boys’ names! And I do really love [name]Andrew[/name]. [name]How[/name] about

[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Simon[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Harrison[/name]

[name]Andrew[/name] is wonderful to go with your other boys. I love it and don’t see it as boring at all. I’d also recommend these favorites of mine that would be perfect with your set: [name]Mark[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Stephen[/name], and [name]Philip[/name]. (I have boys named [name]Daniel[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name].)

You may want to add your set of boys’ names to this thread: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums (The first name list is on page 1. The middle name list is on page 14 of the thread.)

Appreciate all of the suggestions…many of them have been hashed and re-hashed with my husband and [name]Andrew[/name] still comes out on top for different reasons, so I’m sure that will be our name. Sometimes it just takes that sweet little baby to make the name special, I guess!

Oh, I would [name]LOVE[/name] to name five boys! Congratulations! For some reason boys’ names are easier for me. It might be because there are so many more great male names in the Bible, though I don’t necessarily plan to use all Biblical names.
If you’re feeling a bit blah about [name]Andrew[/name], my tendency would be to pep it up with an unexpected middle name:

[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Barnabas[/name] (I have a brother named [name]Barnabas[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]!)
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Nicodemus[/name] (I just love [name]Nicodemus[/name] in the middle)
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Maximus[/name] (can you tell I love S-ending boys’ names?)
[name]Andrew[/name] Deliverance (I especially like this middle with fn [name]James[/name])
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]North[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] (why not put it in the middle?)

I don’t know if any of these are your style; they may be too far out there for you. But as I said, this would be my tendency if you’re just not that excited about [name]Andrew[/name] yet. For what it’s worth, I also think [name]Drew[/name] is a cool nickname.
Best wishes!

[name]Hendrik[/name] is my favorite. Sounds strong and classic but with a twist. I really really like it! [name]Henry[/name] was a fav but has become so popular. [name]Hendrik[/name] is a great middle ground.
