Not having twins yet but just throwing this one out there, am curious what your reactions will be. I am predicting either love or hate. I think that its out there but kind of fun and cute, but can appreciate that it might just be too much. Well I guess don’t know how I feel and that’s why I’m opening it up to you guys. Is it just a case of ‘late-nite bad idea syndrome’? [name]Will[/name] Iwake in the morning and get my sanity back? Or is it just my adventurous side coming out?
I came up with it b/c I was trying to think of scottish names since its both mine and my husbands heritage and somehow [name]Argyle[/name] came up and it evolved from there. Maybe I should just get a dog instead and name it “Polka [name]Dot[/name].”
So… [name]Argyle[/name] for a boy, [name]Paisley[/name] for a girl. What do you think?!
I think [name]Argyle[/name], [name]Paisley[/name] and [name]Dotty[/name] (why not have triplets) would be AWESOME - for pets. Kind of reminds me of Swatch from Mood Fabrics - Project Runway anyone?
Well, they’re not TOO far out there. Hey, they’re coming up as actual names on here! However, I don’t think most people would think of them in that way. I’m usually a “go with what you like” gal, when it comes to names, but I don’t think I’d promote this one. You could get away with [name]Paisley[/name] for a girl’s name, as a stand-alone. Especially in the mn slot. But, definitely not along with an [name]Argyle[/name]. And, I think a boy named [name]Argyle[/name] would quickly gain the nn of “Sock”.
For some reason though, I’m digging “[name]Paisley[/name] [name]Jane[/name]”! Sounds like there should be a song about her.
On two pets- adorable! On two kids- cringe worthy, especially with twins. Names like that for twins or siblings just make them seem like half of a matched set, which they aren’t. They deserve individual names. And I’m not sure that fabric/pattern names are really my thing. I think there are many really great names out there that aren’t these.
Being a twin can suck at times as it is (people lumping you together as “the twins”) and I remain convinced it sucks tenfold when the parents have used twee/cutesy/over-the-top matching names.
First, I love [name]Paisley[/name]. then again, my niece is [name]Paisley[/name] [name]AnneMarie[/name]. And here in Iowa, [name]Paisley[/name] just made #100 on the SS# site.
[name]Argyle[/name] is a bit too much. Too matchy. Too out-there.
I would never do it. I wouldn’t look down on anyone who would do it, I would just think that they didn’t think it through. Hopefully that isn’t mean to say that.
Those names would be adorable for two pet hamsters or hermit crabs, but not for your kids. Sorry if this offends; I should caveat that I’m not very adventurous as far as naming humans!
I knew of three sisters named [name]Lennon[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], and [name]Joplin[/name]. They were very beautiful and I’m sure they were very nice people, but it’s not the most subtle theme.
Ditto. It’s never a good sign when I see “LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL” scroll by in my mind after reading a name.
Paisley is acceptable, but not with Argyle. And while I LOVE the argyle print, I can’t take it as a given name on a person.
I think [name]Paisley[/name] is delightful and I would change [name]Argyle[/name] to [name]Angus[/name] and you have a lovely sibset of [name]Paisley[/name] and [name]Angus[/name] with a Scottish connection.
