We are expecting a boy and we really like the nickname [name_m]Olli[/name_m] or [name_m]Ollie[/name_m] and while we like the name [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] we don’t like that so many websites say it’s so popular.

We would love some input on other names we could use these nicknames with!

Also, input would be appreciated on if [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is really too popular??

I don’t think [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is too popular.

Maybe consider: [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m], [name_m]Olivier[/name_m], [name_m]Olin[/name_m], [name_m]Olimpio[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is perfect as a first name, especially since what you are looking for is the nickname [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and then he would be one of many, anyway. Having to explain to people that he is not actually an [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] but an Olivander or ___ would probably annoy him more than sharing a name with other kids (boys generally tend to be not as botherd by this).

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is not too popular. Not in my area, anyway. It could be different for you, like if every other boy at your local hospital is being named “[name_m]Oliver[/name_m].” You can’t really rely too much on the national list anymore.

Instead of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Olaf[/name_m], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Nollie[/name_m], [name_m]Rollo[/name_m], [name_m]Olan[/name_m], or [name_m]Olivier[/name_m]?

Thanks everyone, this was really helpful! I don’t know any little Olivers, but seeing everywhere say it’s uber popular was discouraging. This makes me feel better!

I have a son named [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. There are other Olivers around, but we haven’t come across too many at all. He’s still little, but he’s never had to be “[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] B.” He goes by [name_u]Olly[/name_u] as well :slight_smile:
