Boy names that honor New Orleans

Hey there!
I was hoping you guys could help us come up with some new names for our list. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due in less than a month and our likes are still pretty much all over the place. One thing we have decided is that we want something that honors [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans. It’s where we met and both of us absolutely love the city - the character and culture. We have a few names on our list, but I’d like to see what you guys can come up with.

Perhaps [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]

[name_m]NOLAn[/name_m]

Treme and [name_m]Parish[/name_m] (sorry, I can’t figure out how to make accent marks!).

[name_m]Louie[/name_m] - From the name of the state that [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans is located in.

[name_m]Archie[/name_m] - If you’re football fans… From [name_m]Archie[/name_m] [name_m]Manning[/name_m], a quarterback that played for the Saints for 13 seasons.

[name_m]Saint[/name_m] - Stemming from the football reference. If you’re looking for something a little more out there, this could be for you!

[name_m]Cane[/name_m] - [name_f]Sugar[/name_f] cane is an abundant, money making crop in the state of Lousisna.

[name_m]Jax[/name_m] - Used to be the name of a brewing company in [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans.

Good luck!

Without knowing what part of [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans is special to you, I would say [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (from [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f]) or [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] (from [name_f]NOLA[/name_f]). Maybe Nawlins (an approximation of [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans in a Cajun accent) if you’re feeling adventurous? :stuck_out_tongue:

Otherwise I would recommend something [name_m]French[/name_m].

Oh I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Archie[/name_m]! I hadn’t thought of that. DH might say it’s a wrong [name_m]Manning[/name_m], though.
Actually now that I think about it [name_m]Manning[/name_m] would make a cool middle name…hmm

Right now my top picks are
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] (I love it for a boy, but will others think it’s too feminine…)
[name_m]Philippe[/name_m] (love the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation, but maybe [name_m]Philip[/name_m] would be easier…)
[name_m]Baptiste[/name_m] (love the name, but it might sound too religious for us…)
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]

I really like [name_m]Philippe[/name_m], since [name_m]New[/name_m] Orleans was named for [name_m]Philippe[/name_m] II, [name_m]Duke[/name_m] of Orleans, but I agree that for pronunciation wise, [name_m]Philip[/name_m] would be easier. I think it’s a very nice, classic name and it would be a subtle shoutout without being too in your face. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is great too, but I would spell it either [name_m]Louie[/name_m] or [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] depending on your preferred pronunciation, because I think there would be issues otherwise.

I like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], but the Civil War battle would make me take pause. I know it has other associations, but that’s my strongest one for it.
