Boy or girl name?

Is [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] a boy’s name or a girl’s name? I wish I knew how to do a poll!!

[name_m]Both[/name_m] but I associate more with girls.

Being a surname, I presume it to be masculine. Although I know girls and boys with this name

I consider it to be a boy name.

If I read the name [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] on my roll sheet as a teacher, I would think boy first.

For me it’s a girl name. I’ve only met one person with the name, and she was a girl. I just can’t picture it on a boy. Also, I don’t know if this matters, but there was a girl character on the nickelodeon tv show [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] 101 named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].

It’s more popular for girls (see stats below) but I prefer it on a boy. Parents always seem to shy away from a particular boys name if it suddenly gains popularity for girls. Shame.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - No# 153 for girls in the US in 2012 (2,095 girls)
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - No# 321 for boys in the US in 2012 (972 boys)

For the record, you do a poll by scrolling to the bottom of the “Post [name_m]New[/name_m] Thread” page and there’s a little box you check that says “Post [name_u]Poll[/name_u]”

For [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], I think it’s used pretty nicely between the two. Despite the fact that it’s used more on girls, I think it works equally well on both.

For myself, I love it so much more on a boy.

I would assume girl.

i think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is one of the few true unisex names. i would not assume a particular gender for this name.

I don’t really assume one way or the other, nor do I find it important.

Also unisex names vary in the frequency of one gender or another based on location. I have a unisex name that’s traditionally masculine, but in the US is considered more feminine. Doesn’t effect me one way or the other.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] with a double ‘n’ seems to be being used for girls recently (although I actually know a 15-year-old girl named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]!)
However, [name_u]Quin[/name_u] with one ‘n’ (especially if short for [name_m]Quinton[/name_m]) is definitely boy for me.
