Boy Sibling for Eleanor?

Hello! I am having a baby boy (yay!) but am COMPLETELY stumped. I had my girl name ready to go, but I don’t know about a boy! Our daughter’s name is Eleanor Frances and goes by Ellie.
For baby #2, this is our list for first names:

Henry (unsure if this is too popular)
Jude
Theodore
Amos
Miles
Morrow (old family last name – maybe a good middle name?)
Luca (my husband’s sister has a 12 year-old named Lucas. Not sure if this is too similar/off the table)
Walter
Arthur
Jack
August
Nico
I like Archie as a nickname but am not sold on Archibald

Thank you for all your help and suggestions!

I think [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] would make wonderful siblings for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

Perhaps you’d like …

[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u]
[name_u]Oliver[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_u]Edward[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Charles[/name_u]
[name_u]George[/name_u]

[name_m]Morrow[/name_m] could work nicely as an honour name in the middle. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is a bit too close to [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], especially if they’ll be around each other, but I’d say it isn’t completely off the table if you love [name_u]Luca[/name_u].

  1. Theodore
  2. Henry
  3. August

These would be my top 3 names for Eleanor’s brother.

Theodore shares the same characteristics as Eleanor: long, traditional, strong name with a short, soft nickname. Ellie and Teddy, or even Ellie and Theo. And, even if the shares the -or- sound, they are pretty different to me.

Henry is one of those names that never gets old. It’s solid and elegant, charming and versatile. A Henry can be Harry, Hank, Hennie, Hal, Hankie… And of course, Henry.

August feels unexpected but at the same time, like an obvious brother for Eleanor. I like because it also has a lovely, soft nickname (Auggie) in contrast with the sobriety and strength of August.

However, I think any choice of your list would work. Maybe Luca, Morrow and Nico are my least favourite options. I do like Nicholas nn Nico. Morrow does sound like a great middle name.

I really like [name_m]Archie[/name_m] too and I do think it can stand on its own but if you don’t care for that maybe [name_u]Archer[/name_u]?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]! Here are my thoughts for a little boy-

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] (unsure if this is too popular)-It’s a great name. Smart & handsome & friendly & classic. But in my area, at least, basically every little boy is named [name_u]Henry[/name_u]. It’s soooo popular. I do love the nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m] though. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_m]Hank[/name_m] would be fun, & would make him stand out from all of the Henrys.

Jude-I love it. It’s so warm & calming, but still feels strong & masculine. It’s simple & well known but not too terribly popular. I also love [name_u]Julian[/name_u] nn [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Julius[/name_m] works too.

Theodore-Super cute & full of fun nns; I like [name_m]Thatch[/name_m]! And [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is getting really popular as well, but it’s a darling classic.

Amos-I like this a lot. It seems to fit your style of sweet but strong old fashioned names, but is way less heard these days.

Miles-This is fine. I hear it a lot, & it doesn’t excite me that much, but it’s an okay name. I like [name_u]Milo[/name_u] more.

[name_m]Morrow[/name_m] (old family last name – maybe a good middle name?)-I’d use it as a mn, but it would make an interesting & unique fn choice if you wanted.

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] (my husband’s sister has a 12 year-old named [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. Not sure if this is too similar/off the table)-Beautiful name, but I would say that [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] are too close for first cousins.

Walter-I like in theory. It’s vintage & lovable. Gives me similar vibes as [name_u]Henry[/name_u], but way less common. I just don’t like the sound as much personally, but it’s still a fun choice.

Arthur-This is cute. It’s like [name_u]Walter[/name_u], but I think that it works better on all ages. [name_u]Walter[/name_u] is just so old man-ish. I know a goofy sporty little nine year old boy named [name_u]Walter[/name_u], & still can’t get used to the name on a kid.

Jack-I like it a lot! It’s just a fun lovable & sharp classic name.

August-I love this one too. It’s outdoorsy & artsy & smart & masculine but not too macho. And it has cute nns of [name_m]Augie[/name_m] & [name_u]Gus[/name_u].

I’m really no help, since I like a lot of them…and here are a few more suggestions: :joy:

[name_m]Abel[/name_m]

[name_u]Bennett[/name_u]

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]

[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]

[name_u]Finn[/name_u]

[name_u]Holden[/name_u]

[name_u]Ira[/name_u]

[name_u]James[/name_u]

[name_m]Louis[/name_m]

[name_u]Levi[/name_u]

[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]

[name_u]Owen[/name_u]

[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]

[name_m]Otis[/name_m]

[name_m]Peter[/name_m]

[name_m]Philip[/name_m]

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]

[name_m]Silas[/name_m]

[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]

[name_m]Winston[/name_m]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u] are all brilliant! [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is my son’s name so I’m biased but my second/equal first pick is [name_u]August[/name_u], which goes beautifully with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

You can’t go wrong with any of these though, although I would say if you want to avoid popular names stay away from [name_u]Henry[/name_u] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] especially, although I’m obviously going by where I live (Australia).

I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], which it seems like a lot if others have said too. They just pair really well.

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] isn’t bad if you really like it! I’ve always found [name_u]Jack[/name_u] really handsome and [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Amos[/name_u] and [name_u]Nico[/name_u] are nice. I think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is too close to [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. [name_m]Archie[/name_m] can stand on its own I feel.

I personally love Henry. Don’t worry about popularity! If you love the name, go for it!

So handsome, but I feel like it’s better to have a longer, backup name. Like Judah for example!

Another of my favorites! I love the nicknames Teddy and Theo. I think Teddy and Ellie are super cute together!

Hmm… I don’t care for it personally, and I don’t feel like it goes the best with Eleanor. That said, my opinion really doesn’t matter if you love the name!

It’s cute (and I have a good association), but I don’t know how well it goes with Eleanor. Maybe Milo?

I’m all for family names! I think it would make a great middle!

Hmm… that’s awfully close. There are always those names that you just love, but someone else has used it or something similar.

Aww, I don’t think I’ve ever heard this on a little boy! A little Wally would be soooo cute!

A recent name crush of mine! It’s timeless and sophisticated, and you’ve got good nicknames like Artie to fall back on!

Sweet and simple! I can see no problems! It goes lovely with Eleanor.

Hmm… A handsome name, but I feel like it just isn’t right with Eleanor. However, as I keep saying, if you love it, use it!

It’s super cute, but, again, it doesn’t match Eleanor very well. Seems to me that you need a traditional name with nicknames?

I actually also thought of Archer, and it actually seems to go well with Eleanor, in my opinion!

[name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Jack[/name_u], and [name_u]August[/name_u] all have a similar historical and classy sound to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

Some other suggestions:

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] “Alec”
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]

Congratulations!! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is an adorable name !! And I really love some of the names on your list ! I think they all go really well with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I will like them in order of my preference

[name_m]Morrow[/name_m] - I’m also a big fan of sentimental names and [name_m]Morrow[/name_m] is GREAT!! It’s really unique and I think lends itself to some cute nicknames Roe/ [name_f]Row[/name_f] ,& Mo/ [name_u]Moe[/name_u] . I know you are leaning towards with middle spot but I am positively swooning over [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_u]Mo[/name_u] !! [name_m]Morrow[/name_m] would more than likely be the only one he meets with this name but it’s easy to pronounce and spell . This name is easily my favourite

[name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] are literally perfect. I actually know a little sub set with these names and it makes me pretty fond of them together.

[name_u]Walter[/name_u]- honestly I am falling more in love with [name_u]Walter[/name_u] . I can see this one becoming more popular. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Walt[/name_m] , [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Al[/name_m] , [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and Alt, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Art[/name_m] !

[name_u]Nico[/name_u] is a dream ! I love this as a nickname for [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]! I think it pairs well with your daughters name

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] - it’s super popular in my circles , but for good reason. It’s a great names , rich in history and can be easily pronounced in different languages

[name_u]Amos[/name_u] - this is almost unheard of where I live. It feels super fresh !

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u] , [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Miles[/name_u] , , [name_u]Jack[/name_u] , - I easily know 3 each under 3 with these names , so for me personally I wouldn’t use as they are pretty popular

Hello! Your little girl has a beautiful name! Off of your list I LOVE [name_u]Amos[/name_u], [name_u]Miles[/name_u], and [name_u]Walter[/name_u]!
Those are my top 3. I think [name_m]Morrow[/name_m] would be a lovely middle name with all 3 of them! [name_m]Morrow[/name_m] would be a really bold choice for a first name but I think it would be awesome to see. The other names on your list are all very nice and would work well. There is not a bad name in the bunch. Some suggestions that you might like are:
