[name_m]Abbott[/name_m] → strong and bold feeling, but I find it a tiny bit awkward to say?
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Anders[/name_m] → rugged and charming
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Clark[/name_m] → gentle but handsome
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Elliott[/name_m] → sweet but solid
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Francis[/name_m] → classic with a hint of clunkiness
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hirsch[/name_m] → I like the surname-vibe and smart yet rough-and-tumble feel, but it reminds me a bit of hearse and harsh mashed up? I prefer [name_m]Hirschel[/name_m] personally but [name_m]Hirsch[/name_m] could grow on me
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ives[/name_m] → a very charming, arty middle
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Madoc[/name_m] → cool and distinctive but familiar too
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reid[/name_m] → sleek and cool
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Stellan[/name_m] → earthy but bright
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Warren[/name_m] → it’s got a touch of the outdoors while still feeling smart and sharp
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Willem[/name_m] → I like the twist on a common name, that also holds its own.

[name_f][/name_f]

Over all, you’ve got a brilliant list [name_f][/name_f]- distinctive and cool! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_m]Reid[/name_m], [name_m]Madoc[/name_m], [name_m]Anders[/name_m] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m]!

Ooh, okay. Here are my thoughts:

[name_f][/name_f]

Abbott-I like it. It’s different and kind of quirky. I especially like it because it lends to the nn [name_m]Abe[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

Anders-Not sure why I don’t love this one. I like Andrew…I like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I should like [name_m]Anders[/name_m], but just can’t get into the sound. It’s not bad, though.

[name_f][/name_f]

Clark-That’s nice. Solid & slightly undersused. Doesn’t sparkle for me, but a nice choice.

[name_f][/name_f]

Elliott-Oh yeah, my favorite spelling! I would also accept [name_m]Eliot[/name_m].[name_f][/name_f] Anyway, [name_m]Elliott[/name_m] is adorable & smart & just lovable.

[name_f][/name_f]

Francis-I don’t know. Totally a name that I should like, but not my favorite.

[name_f][/name_f]

Hirsch-Hm. I don’t know that I care for the sound of this.

[name_f][/name_f]

Ives-That’s cool; I definitely like it as a MN. I like [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ives[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

Madoc-Hm. I don’t know; feels too last-name-y.

[name_f][/name_f]

Reid-Not terrible, but not my favorite.

[name_f][/name_f]

Stellan-Gosh, I wish it didn’t, but it reminds me of [name_m]Stalin[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

Warren-That’s different. Certainly would be fun to meet a little [name_m]Warren[/name_m] these days, even if it’s not my favorite sounding name.

[name_f][/name_f]

Willem-I do like this; very handsome. [name_f]May[/name_f] have to correct people from [name_m]William[/name_m] a lot.

[name_m]Abbott[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I’ve long loved -tt names and [name_m]Abbott[/name_m] is one of my favorites! [name_f][/name_f] I think he’s super cool.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Anders[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I’ve always wanted to get into [name_m]Anders[/name_m] but something feels off about him to me? [name_f][/name_f] I prefer the similar [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] (which I think is so effortlessly cool and lots of fun to say!). [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Anders[/name_m] is a beautiful, timeless name though that would serve your son well! [name_f][/name_f] I wish I could connect to it like I have [name_m]Andreas[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- the [name_m]Clark[/name_m] I know has put me off of this; it’s also the name of a television company here so it doesn’t feel as namey as I’d like. [name_f][/name_f] I do love the tie to [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m] though!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Elliott[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- another very cool -tt name! [name_f][/name_f] I admit I prefer [name_m]Everett[/name_m] (especially) to this, but also [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Francis[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I’m not a [name_m]Frankie[/name_m] person, [name_m]Francis[/name_m] doesn’t do much for me, but it is a timeless name with much to offer!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hirsch[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- not sure how I feel about this, feels very surnamey? [name_f][/name_f] I do like the similar-sounding [name_m]Herschel[/name_m] though!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ives[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- always liked [name_m]Ives[/name_m], it’s very cool. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Ivar[/name_m], and [name_m]Ivor[/name_m] are also very cool if you’d like something similar up front?
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Madoc[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- really nice option but doesn’t do much for me either, sorry.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reid[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- like it a lot although I prefer the [name_m]Reed[/name_m] spelling. [name_f][/name_f] I also do like Rhys/Reese and [name_m]Reef[/name_m] a little more, also love the similar sounding [name_m]Reeve[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Stellan[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- lovely name! [name_f][/name_f] I wish I could get into it more, I do like it, but there are other S names I like more (Sebastian, [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_m]Sampson[/name_m], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], etc.). [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] feels underappreciated though so I would definitely be pleased to meet a little [name_m]Stellan[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- doesn’t do much for me, sorry, but it is a lovely and timeless name!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Willem[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I nicknamed the goat on my road this :woman_facepalming:[name_f][/name_f] I do think it’s effortlessly cool and I love the European vibes but I find it a little awkward to say compared to [name_m]William[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] And now I do unfortunately associate it with a goat [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Anders[/name_m] [name_m]Willem[/name_m] or [name_m]Willem[/name_m] [name_m]Anders[/name_m] feels like such a cool European combo though!

[name_f][/name_f]

Sorry if I missed the mark [name_f][/name_f]- your list feels like it has a lot of vintage surnames, Gaelic, central European (German/Dutch), timeless names, so I tried to stick to those.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Love[/name_f] your style, I think your baby will have an amazing name! [name_f][/name_f] All the best!

Thanks so much for replying @ashthedreamer - It’s great to get some perspective on people’s initial reactions.

I think you did hit the mark - I’m American and my husband is British. We’re UK based and trying to find something different/unique that touches on both of our family naming styles.

I appreciate you making so many suggestions also. Cheers!

@MichelleM[name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Abe[/name_m] is a really cute nn I hadn’t thought of for [name_m]Abbott[/name_m]. I’m actually struggling a bit thinking about nicknames [name_f][/name_f]- I like [name_m]Frankie[/name_m] for a girl, but not so much for a boy, and that is a minus for [name_m]Francis[/name_m]. Most of the names on here don’t have organic short forms. [name_m]Warren[/name_m] has been at the top of my list but I can’t imagine others potentially calling my kid War or Ren/Wren. Thanks for feeding back and for the suggestions!

@Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] thanks for replying and for you list of suggestions! I really appreciate you breaking down your impressions for each name as well [name_f][/name_f]-

I love [name_m]Clark[/name_m], [name_m]Elliott[/name_m], [name_m]Reid[/name_m] and [name_m]Warren[/name_m]!
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Anders[/name_m], [name_m]Hirsch[/name_m], [name_m]Madoc[/name_m] and [name_m]Willem[/name_m] are just not my taste (but could work, especially if they are names that honor heritage).
[name_f][/name_f]I love [name_m]Ives[/name_m] as a middle! [name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_m]Ives[/name_m] or [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Ives[/name_m] are sweet names.

[name_m]Elliott[/name_m], [name_m]Francis[/name_m], and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] are my favorites.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combos would probably be [name_m]Elliott[/name_m] [name_m]Ives[/name_m], [name_m]Francis[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m], and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] [name_m]Madoc[/name_m].

I love
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Clark[/name_m] (my fav; short and strong)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Elliott[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reid[/name_m] (also short and strong)

[name_f][/name_f]

I like
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Abbott[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Warren[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

I dislike
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hirsch[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Madoc[/name_m]

Have given my thoughts & impressions, and some additional ideas/alternatives

Abbott - like in theory but the sound is a bit harsh and quick sounding (rabbit like) to me. It does give some cool nn’s though (Otto, Bob, Abby, Abe). There are other southern style gent names I prefer though (Ford, Jennings, Fletcher, Brooks, Callahan, Beckett, Bennett).
Anders - I like this name! It’s cute-guy Scandi and immediately likeable.
Clark - a bit intense and earnest for me but it is distinctive and noticeable.
Elliott - this also has a nerdy cute vibe, it’s a little less mature sounding as your other names but very lovable. Everett has a bit more heft to it, and you might also like Julian or Oliver.
Francis - grew up with a guy I knew called Francis and he struggled with thinking his name was a girls’ (Frances). I love Francis but would use only as a middle, including so it’s not shortened to the honky sounding Frank.
Hirsch - middle only for me. Giving his & Hirsch. What about Hayden, Hayes, Harrison, Hugh or Hugo?
Ives (middle name only, legacy) - love it, but get why middle only. French pronunciation is so handsome!
Madoc - not quite hitting mark for me, almost hear manic when I say it. How about Cormac, Malachi, Marcus, Max, Tiernan, Emrys, Lachlan, Jacob, Ronan, or Tobias.
Reid - I like this name - it’s smart and authoritative - but it reads (lol) super American. That isn’t a negative - you are American - but just if you’re going for a more Brit/international feel this might not be the name. How about Rhys, Rafferty (nn Raffy, Raffa, Rafe), Rory, Gabe? (But I do think Reid should syst in the list, it’s a good name.)
Stellan - very handsome! Just need a good nn. Also like Sterling, Silas, Cyrus, and my fave boys’ name, Sebastian.
Warren - this is a really rough, dated (1980s) name where I am (Australia) and has no good nicknames (would get Woz or Wazza). How about Wesley, Wyatt, Marshall, Xander, Arthur, Evren or Dylan? I also like Weston, Murphy & Walter.
Willem - this used to be a fave of mine! Still really like especially if you have any Dutch heritage.

Hope that helps! If you have time, let us know if any appeal.
