Trying to find boys names to go with our last name, [name]Carter[/name] and am having a hard time! We loved the name [name]Ethan[/name] [name]John[/name] [name]Carter[/name] but my brother took that first name. If anyone has the last name [name]Carter[/name], would love to hear some boys names We have no idea what weāre having but if we have a girl itās between [name]Samantha[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Carter[/name] / [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Carter[/name].
Before I give you boy name suggestions, I want to voice my concern for your choices for girl names: I love the name [name]Caroline[/name] but it sounds and looks strange with your surname [name]Carter[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Carter[/name] has ācar-carā that begins each name. [name]Hope[/name] that doesnāt bother you. [name]Samantha[/name] is ok paired with [name]Jane[/name] but [name]Samantha[/name] has never been a fav of mine [name]Just[/name] a matter of preference I guess. Personally, if I had a common surname like [name]Carter[/name], I would choose something more rare or unusual. Here are some boy names that I think would work well with [name]Carter[/name].
mischa gave a lot of great choices. I just want to disagree that I think [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Carter[/name] is a very strong-sounding name and I think the alliteration makes it very distinctive. If my last name was [name]Carter[/name], I would definitely have [name]Caroline[/name] as a strong contender.
Great names were suggested below!
[name]Asa[/name] might be a little unusual for you, but nn ā[name]Ace[/name]ā [name]Carter[/name] sounds adorable!
I maybe would think twice about names like [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Jackson[/name] or [name]Lincoln[/name] - if you use nns, [name]Jack[/name] [name]Carter[/name] or [name]Linc[/name] [name]Carter[/name] kind of run together and make the surname sound like āHarderā
Other possibilities:
[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name] (if you have any Welsh background) or [name]Reid[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name]
Also, [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Aaron[/name], [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Sean[/name] (and [name]James[/name], of course) are names of famous people - Iām sure youāve thought of those and more already. I do think they all sound good though!
Also, FWIW I love [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Carter[/name], unless you plan to call her [name]Carrie[/name]
Our last name is [name]Carter[/name] and weāre expecting a boy and most of the names we considered are on Phoebesmomās list! [name]Sullivan[/name] was a big contender for a while and we had liked [name]Rowan[/name] at the time our first was born 4 years ago, but now we both see it as being too trendy. Really most names work as long as theyāre not -er names like [name]Sawyer[/name], I donāt like the double -er, although for some reason I like [name]Oliver[/name], that one doesnāt bother me. I agree that [name]Caroline[/name] works with [name]Carter[/name], it is distinctive. I had liked [name]Grayson[/name] for a while, nn [name]Gray[/name] is quite nice. I also agree with [name]Rhys[/name] as a nice original choice. I really like [name]Felix[/name] but Iāve been vetoed on that oneā¦I also like [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name], DH not so much. We think [name]Everett[/name] will be our little oneās middle name.
If I think of anything else, Iāll post again. Good luck!
