Boys Names

So, I just want to start with that I hate negative threads but I felt that this is necessary.

I have seen so many threads asking people’s opinions on violent or just plain ridiculous names for boys. I mean, sure [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is very commonly used but that’s not the point here.

Suggesting to call your son something like Avenger (just an example) because it sounds cool for a little boy is absolutely ridiculous.

One) It does not sound cool, it sounds tacky.

Two) You are not just naming a little boy! You’re naming a man! You know, they do grow up. Think about if a full grown man would think it was cool to be called Avenger. I doubt he would think it was cool.

I’m really sorry for having a rant but I’m 15 and know what it appropriate to name a child, you’d think grown adults would too.

This is not suppose to offend anyone. Im sorry if it did.

I appreciate that you feel this way but I do feel that this is a little unnecessary.

Yes, there are some ridiculous names around but not everyone is necessarily asking about names in regards to naming a baby. I just asked about [name_m]Buck[/name_m], I don’t think I’d ever actually use it but I like names, I have fun coming up with name combinations, I like hearing opinions on these names/combinations. And even if they are naming a baby at that particular time it’s obviously perfectly fine to offer opinions, that’s basically why these forums exist, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not appropriate to name a child that.

Names that you think are completely reasonable, others may not. There are some names which are ridiculous everywhere, such as the example you offered, others, such as [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m], are more appropriate in some countries than others

I think this has already been discussed ad nauseam over on the original Avenger thread.

That one descended quite rapidly into mud-slinging and I can see the same happening here, to be honest. Not a particularly constructive discussion.
