Boys "W" names?

Hello everyone! My wife and I decided that we would like any daughters we have to have names that start with my initial, and any sons’ names to start with hers. [name]Lucky[/name] me, we are expecting a beautiful baby boy and I am now questing for names that begin with a “W” in honor of my beautiful wife, [name]Whitney[/name]. Here is our list of possibilities so far:

[name]Waylon[/name]
Whitten
[name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Windsor[/name]

[name]Warren[/name] (I just found this name searching for ones for you and actually like it)
[name]Wyn[/name]
[name]Wystan[/name]/Wystin/Wysten
So good luck! All the best

[name]Windsor[/name]!

[name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Windsor[/name] are definitely my favorites off of your list! [name]Wilder[/name] and [name]Wolf[/name] are pretty cool, too!

Some random W names off of the top of my head

[name]Walton[/name]
[name]Willoughby[/name]
[name]Weston[/name]
[name]Walker[/name]

[name]Just[/name] as a side note I think [name]Witt[/name] and Whitten are awesome too, but it might be confusing with your wife being named [name]Whitney[/name]. You’d call one and get double the responses! Good luck!

[name]Walter[/name] is my fave ‘w’ boys name.
From your list, I like [name]Wyatt[/name] most.

I love [name]Walter[/name], [name]Wolf[/name] (or [name]Wulf[/name] or [name]Wolfgang[/name])

What about [name]Wheeler[/name], [name]Warren[/name], or [name]Wesley[/name]?

My son is [name]Wilson[/name], I am rather partial to his name

I like
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Wesley[/name] (or just [name]Wes[/name])
[name]West[/name] or Westwood

My favorite W boy name is [name]Walter[/name]. There’s also [name]William[/name].

I like [name]Wyatt[/name] too.

My favorite boys’ name is [name]Winn[/name] and any name that gives the nickname of [name]Win[/name]/[name]Winn[/name].

I also love the suggestion of [name]Wes[/name], [name]Wesley[/name] and [name]West[/name].
I like the suggestions of [name]Walden[/name] and [name]Willis[/name].

A few others:
[name]Wallace[/name]/[name]Wallis[/name] nn [name]Wally[/name].
[name]Wiley[/name]

Wow! You guys are so awesome. I was thinking maybe my post would get a couple of responses, but I never dreamed of such an outpouring! Thank you all so, so much. It”s nice to know that so many awesome people could get behind a random, rambling dude on the Internet

From all of your amazing suggestions, we also really like:

[name]Walker[/name] ” I love the southern, cowboy feel of this.
[name]Warren[/name] - I think this is such a handsome name, but a popular local movie theater is called the [name]Warren[/name]. Could it pose problems?
[name]Wesley[/name] - This has long been a favorite of mine; can’t believe I forgot it!
[name]Willis[/name] - This is another super-strong sounding name that we both like, but I can’t shake “What’chu talking 'bout [name]Willis[/name]?” from my head…
[name]Willoughby[/name] ” This is SUCH a cool name!
[name]Winn[/name] - Again, such a cool name. I love the upbeat attitude.
[name]Wolfgang[/name] - Could a good old-fashioned southern boy pull this name off? We both love it, but worry of how out of place it would seem here in a southern suburb.
[name]Wylie[/name] - Another cute, cowboyish name we both really like.
[name]Wystan[/name] - This sounds SO cool and mystical. Is there a “proper” way for it to be spelled? My wife is a stickler for “traditional” spellings, not things like [name]Abbiegayle[/name] and Aiydyn.

We also love [name]Weston[/name], [name]Wilson[/name], and [name]William[/name], but they are all already claimed by close friends and family members :frowning: Again, thank you guys so much for all of your help!!!

My first crush was on a boy named [name]Webster[/name] (went by [name]Webb[/name]) in high school 20 years ago. I still love that name.

I also love [name]Wyatt[/name] (the meaning of [name]Wyatt[/name] is [name]Little[/name] Warrior, which is neat), [name]Windsor[/name], [name]Wesley[/name] (love the nn [name]Wes[/name]) and [name]Weston[/name] ([name]West[/name]).

I hope you find the perfect name!!!
[name]Walker[/name]: I like [name]Walker[/name] too, and it’s cute for a little boy. (especially a southern suburb little boy)
[name]Warren[/name]: I’m not quite sure if [name]Warren[/name] would be problematic… I wouldn’t really think so, no actually i don’t think it would be…my cousin’s name is [name]Malcolm[/name], he lives on malcolm island, and everthing is [name]Malcolm[/name] island…coop store, gift shop ect. and it’s never been a problem for him.
[name]Wesley[/name]: I like it!
[name]Willis[/name]: haha good point.
[name]Winn[/name]: It’s cool and stylish.
[name]Willoughby[/name]:interesting…but cool
[name]Wolfgang[/name]: yeah not sure…it would be out of place.
[name]Wylie[/name]:It seems slightly girly with the ie but I still like it
[name]Wystan[/name]: I’m glad you like it! this is the main way it’s spelled. it’s not really that common at all so you could spell it whatever way’s best for you. I don’t like unique spellings either. it means “battle-stone” in case you didn’t look it up.

Thank you guys for the continued input! I have to say, I was very apprehensive about posting on a name forum (not to sound sexist, but I was afraid I would be pretty out of place!)

[name]Webster[/name] is a neat name, but neither of us can shake the connotations with Merriam-[name]Webster[/name]. Not necessarily a bad connection, we just want our boy”s name to really ”pop” and be unique  I didn”t realize [name]Wyatt[/name] meant little warrior, I love that! I do really, really love [name]Wystan[/name] as does my wife ” and that meaning is downright cool, thank you for it!

So far, these are the names we are considering. I placed asterisks by our absolute favorites

[name]Walker[/name]*
[name]Warren[/name]
[name]Waylon[/name]
[name]Wesley[/name]
Whitten ([name]Whit[/name])*
[name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Willoughby[/name]
[name]Windsor[/name] ([name]Winn[/name])*
[name]Wolf[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]*
[name]Wylie[/name]
[name]Wystan[/name]*

[name]Winston[/name] is one of my absolutely favorite boys names! To your collection I can add [name]Whittaker[/name] and [name]Winthrop[/name], I don’t think they’ve been mentioned.
[name]Just[/name] a thought on [name]Windsor[/name] though. It used to be on my list because it looks really cool, has a good sound, royal family association, etc. However I met a little boy [name]Windsor[/name] and was blown away by how pretentious it actually seemed on a real child.

[name]Winslow[/name] is another “win” option. There’s also [name]Walton[/name], Walwyn, [name]Waverley[/name], [name]Welton[/name], [name]Wendell[/name], [name]Wharton[/name], Whitby, Whitlock, Wickham, [name]Wilfred[/name], Wulfstan, [name]Wycliffe[/name] and [name]Wyndham[/name]. By the way, when I saw your name “Psalm” it may me smile. All the best!

[name]Wystan[/name] and [name]Wilder[/name] are the ones I like personally…
Let us know what you decide on!!

I agree with this. I think it can come off as VERY pretentious, I think because it is associated with the current royal family, rather than an obscure or historical one. All the fuss over [name]William[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]'s wedding right around the time of your baby’s birth will only exacerbate this, I’m afraid.
