I’ve been flirting with [name_m]Bram[/name_m] lately and the pronunciation can go either way for me. The idea occurred to me to explore the spelling [name_m]Braham[/name_m] (as well as [name_m]Brahm[/name_m]). It would rhyme with [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. What do you think?
Would it be usable? Or is it just a bit too porcine lingerie?

My first instinct was “I love this name! Why isn’t this hugely popular?!” But I was pronouncing it like “ah” instead of “a” (like the composer [name_m]Brahms[/name_m] … I can’t think of how else to describe my pronunciation). If you want it to rhyme with [name_m]Graham[/name_m], I’d spell it [name_m]Bram[/name_m]. I know that makes no sense because of the way [name_m]Graham[/name_m] is spelled. But when I see [name_m]Braham[/name_m] and [name_m]Brahm[/name_m], I say the middle part “ah” instead.
P.S. I have no idea what you mean by porcine lingerie. I did several interesting google searches regarding pigs and bras, but didn’t come up with anything. So I think you’re safe from whatever you’re referring to. 
I like the name [name_m]Bram[/name_m] a lot actually, but I’m not a huge fan of the [name_m]Braham[/name_m] spelling; it looks like a misspelling of [name_m]Graham[/name_m], or perhaps a nickname or misspelling of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], of which it’s one letter off. Due to the proximity to [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], some people might pronounce it brah-ham. [name_m]Brahm[/name_m] is pronounced with a long “ah” sound, like [name_m]Brahms[/name_m] the composer.
I want to say “bray-um.” It would assume it was a surname, not a respelling of [name_m]Bram[/name_m].
I can definitely see [name_m]Braham[/name_m] being pronounce the same as [name_m]Brahm[/name_m]. I think I may even prefer it being pronounced that way, honestly
As for the suggestion of the [name_m]Bram[/name_m] spelling it looks incomplete to me. I can’t seem to get past that.
Also, the porcine lingerie was a bit of a joke because of the spelling [name_m]Braham[/name_m] being composed of the words ‘bra’ and ‘ham’. 
My intention was not to infer that I was pronouncing [name_m]Braham[/name_m] and [name_m]Brahm[/name_m] the same. I was just mentioning the other alternate spelling I was thinking of.
You have a very good point about [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. I didn’t realize that [name_m]Braham[/name_m] was [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] minus the A-. Not that I see that as a problem really, I adore [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. It’s one of my favorite boy’s names.

Well, I think I’d instinctively say “[name_m]Brahms[/name_m]…wait, Brah…oh, I’m not sure. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce this?” [name_m]Even[/name_m] thought it’s [name_m]Graham[/name_m] with a B, I still wouldn’t say [name_u]Bray[/name_u]-ham. I don’t like it. Sounds like a smush. I prefer [name_m]Bram[/name_m]…or even [name_m]Brahms[/name_m].
After a minimum amount of research I found [name_m]Braham[/name_m] is a surname so you wouldn’t be off the mark at all. I can see the “bray-um” issue as well.

LOL! I knew there was something really obvious I was missing (hence the google search), but apparently even the most intensive google search can’t make up for common sense.
If you prefer the “ah” prn, I would be 100% behind either spelling – [name_m]Braham[/name_m] or [name_m]Brahm[/name_m], since I would pronounce them the same way. And as I mentioned before, I really love these names!! It’s a wonder to me they haven’t been discovered yet.
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Bram[/name_m] already rhyme, why would you need this unnecessary spelling?
I totally understand [name_m]Bram[/name_m] looking incomplete, it’s very short and abrupt (but I love it!), but if that’s what really bothers you, I’d suggest going with [name_m]Abram[/name_m] or [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] NN [name_m]Bram[/name_m] and not unnecessarily complicating the spelling of what should be a very straightforward name to pronounce and spell.

I love that porcine lingerie joke and that wasn’t obvious to me either… you had to spell it out for me to get it so idk if it is really that obvious an association.
I may just go with [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] if I was going with that spelling as it does look like an incomplete [name_m]Abraham[/name_m].

Are you wanting [name_m]Braham[/name_m] to sound like ‘[name_m]Bram[/name_m]’ - if so, I’d go for [name_m]Bram[/name_m]. It’s an actual recognised name, which helps.
Eg. [name_m]Bram[/name_m] Stoker (wrote Dracula.)
Or [name_u]Bran[/name_u] (short for [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] or similar.)

I really like it! Nice unusual spelling option. [name_f]Every[/name_f] pronunciation that’s been mentioned in this thread sounds good. When I first saw [name_m]Braham[/name_m], I pronounce it [name_m]Bram[/name_m] - just like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] but with a B instead of G.
[name_m]Braham[/name_m]. It looks and feels quite handsome, and sort of like a ‘surname name.’

I was also SO confused as how [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Bram[/name_m] could possibly rhyme --until someone pointed out Americans pronounce [name_m]Graham[/name_m] differently.
A legitimate alternative spelling for [name_m]Graham[/name_m] is [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]…your preferred pronunciation of [name_m]Braham[/name_m] might be clearer if you spelled it Braeme. Or does that create more problems? Brayem or Brayham are more phonetic, but creeping further into “made up” territory.
I really like the name though…
