Disclaimer: I’m not pregnant or TTC, just thinking of the little futures.
My boyfriend and I were talking names the other day and he told me a few names he likes, including [name]Brandon[/name]. Personally, I’m not crazy about [name]Brandon[/name]. It’s my two of my best friends’ younger brothers’ names, and it just felt kind of dated. That said, I do like the sound of the name.
I thought about how nice the name [name]Brendan[/name] is, but a kid up the street is named [name]Brendan[/name] and his last name is only one letter off from my boyfriend’s name. I’m not really a fan of the names [name]Brennan[/name] or [name]Brannon[/name] either, which to me sound like you’re just being lazy in saying [name]Brendan[/name] and [name]Brandon[/name].
Obviously, the time for me to worry about this is a while off, but I’m just wondering if you guys have suggestions of similar names, or if you could help me like the name.
I don’t like [name]Brandon[/name], TBH.
What about [name]Benedict[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], [name]Bradley[/name],[name]Bryson[/name], [name]Bruce[/name], [name]Bryan[/name], Brend?
I prefer [name]Brendan[/name] to [name]Brandon[/name], but then again my husband’s name is [name]Brendan[/name] and I have an annoying cousin name [name]Brandon[/name].
[name]Brendan[/name] is less common, so there are some issues with my husband being called [name]Brandon[/name]. [name]One[/name] guy even called him [name]Brennan[/name]! My mom still occasionally calls him [name]Brandon[/name]. It’s even more confusing at family gatherings because then there is a [name]Brendan[/name] and a [name]Brandon[/name]. So there’s the downside to [name]Brendan[/name] and why [name]Brandon[/name] might be a better choice.
Some other options:
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Brian[/name]
[name]Bryce[/name]
[name]Aldan[/name]
[name]Braedon[/name]
[name]Logan[/name]
[name]Damian[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
Keagon
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Brendan[/name] is definitely more my style, but I just can’t get over [name]Brendan[/name] R@msey and then [name]Brendan[/name] R_msey. It’s way too close, and he’s not a well behaved child either.
I really like the suggestions of [name]Bradley[/name] and [name]Brian[/name].
Is there anybody that’s on [name]Brandon[/name]'s side?
Thank you for the pro for [name]Brandon[/name]! [name]Nathan[/name] and Keagon are also great suggestions, thank you! I love [name]Ethan[/name] but my cousin had a baby in [name]January[/name] and named him [name]Ethan[/name].

I actually prefer [name]Brandon[/name] to [name]Brenden[/name]… I know a bunch of little [name]Brendan[/name]'s and while they are mostly sweet kids, the name is kind of hard for me to say… I know only one [name]Brandon[/name], who is in his 30s. I like how the name would work on a little guy in a sandbox and also no one would really blink to hear of an adult [name]Brandon[/name] ([name]Brenden[/name] seems more childish to me).
I don’t really have any suggestions for you and previous posters really have had some awesome ones for you already… Maybe the child down the street will become a non-issue? Perhaps either you/your boyfriend or little guy’s family will move. Also, if he if he is several years older than your future son, they probably won’t be in school together so they wouldn’t really get mixed up by teachers or friends.
There is also the [name]Brenden[/name] spelling…I know a few of those!
I like [name]Brandon[/name]! It’s a bit more dated than [name]Brendan[/name] but I think [name]Brendan[/name] is becoming dated, too. I also think [name]Brandon[/name] sounds best with [name]Jeffrey[/name] and [name]Rachel[/name].
Oh I’d like to add, that depending on your heritage, one or the other might fit you better? My husband is Irish, so that’s why he’s named [name]Brendan[/name]. His parent’s also believed it wouldn’t be a “complicated” name, but unfortunately, he often got confused with [name]Brandon[/name].
[name]Brandon[/name] is English.
In terms of spelling, [name]Brendan[/name] is the original, so I would stick to the original to avoid confusion, if you go with [name]Brendan[/name].
You’re warming me up to both [name]Brandon[/name] and [name]Brendan[/name]. The association with the kid up the street probably isn’t too big of a deal, and the more I say [name]Brandon[/name] the more I like it.
I’ve always loved the name [name]Brandon[/name]. It has positive associations for me, so it makes me sad that it’s now considered dated. [name]Brendan[/name] always seemed like a knock-off. haha No offense to anyone- it is a nice name on its own.
