I ran across the name Braven, and the more I think about it the more I like it. I’ve never heard of it before and it doesn’t even have a page on nameberry. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious what others think about it.
I have a son named [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], and if I had another boy I thought they sound cute together. However, is it too cheesy? [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and Brave? I never intended to have a “theme” But I do like the sound of the sibset.
I’ve never heard the name before, but my first impressions are that it sounds masculine and “like a name” (follows many other boy names ending with “en” or “in” like [name_m]Colin[/name_m] or [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]). I like it!
In terms of the sibset, it is cute but does sound a bit sing-song-y. It’s easier for me to picture on two little boys than two grown teenagers. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a nickname for [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you would use the full name Braven or use a nickname for that?
BTW I looked up Braven and it is listed on Babycenter so you can see that some other parents have chosen this name.
[name_u]Brighton[/name_u]’s nicknames are “[name_u]Bright[/name_u]” and “Bash”
I’d have to think on the nickname for Braven, I think Brave and [name_m]Vin[/name_m] would happen naturally, and depending on the middle name more might arise
Is it pronounced in rhyme with [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] or more like Brave-in? My first instinct was Brave-in but I was just wanting to clear up how you would say it.
I think the two names are distinct enough that the sounds aren’t too matchy-matchy but on the other hand, they do both start with a Br-. If you only plan on having the two, then I think it would be quite cute. If you have a third, you might risk feeling pressured into using another Br- name for baby 3 or having the baby not match and feel a bit left out. Needless to say, I think it’s a great name that feels similar style wise to [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and you should go for it if you love it!
I really love Braven! I’ve never heard it before so love how uncommon it is. It goes so well with your other child’s name. [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and brave is so cool too! I have no negatives about this name at all. I think it is wonderful
I looove Braven and have done for a long time! I hadn’t found anyone else that likes it until I saw this post. I often put it into games on the name games section of the forum and others seem to drop it pretty much immediately! So I don’t feel like it’s too popular.
My top 5 B names for boys are [name_u]Blaze[/name_u], Brave, Braven, [name_u]Bright[/name_u], and Bronze - so I know what you mean about samey-names! I don’t think I’d personally be able to use more than one of these names in a sibset.
I also love Brave, Bravely, and [name_m]Bravery[/name_m] for a girl. I know of a sibset of all girls who are named Brave, [name_u]True[/name_u], Soul, Glow, and [name_u]Red[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] dreamy!
Although brothers called [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] “[name_u]Bright[/name_u]” and Braven “Brave” would definitely be rhyme-y, I love it. The names together are sweet, but both names are super cool on their own and would be great on adult men.
Hmm, this one’s a bit tricky!
I like the name Braven, but sibling [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] makes me hesitant. While I don’t agree, some people would definitely find it tacky. Still, I think you should go for it, but only if you’re not planning on having a third child. It’d be strange breaking the pattern when the two names are so similar. And even if you like another Br- name I doubt it’d be different enough from both brothers’ names and nicknames.
