We recently found this name in our family tree and quite like it as a middle name for our daughter ([name]Kiva[/name] Breindel “bloom”). We’ve been saying bry-n-dell but does anyone know what the correct pronunciation is? What do you think of it? Thanks
Breindel looks [name]German[/name] to me so I think you have the correct pronunciation. It isn’t bad and if it’s part of your family tree then all the more reason to find it appealing. Personally, it doesn’t have the same classic quality of [name]Shana[/name]'s mn of [name]Rosalind[/name]. It looks more ethnic. But if you and your DH like it, then go for it!

A comment from a user said it could be “brie-n-dell, brie-n-dul, bray-n-dell, bray-n-dul”
I typed it in Google and found another site that says in addition to the Yiddish meaning it means “blessing in Hebrew” and “crowned with [name]Laurel[/name] in Latin” but who knows how reliable that is. Anyway, that site says the pronunciation is [name]BREN[/name]-del BUT I think this name is rare enough that there is no set way to pronounce it.
You should go ahead and pronounce it however you are the most comfortable! 
Oh! and I think [name]Kiva[/name] Breindel “bloom” is very pretty!

Breindel looks like it would be pronounced like the [name]German[/name] names, [name]Heidi[/name] and [name]Heinrich[/name] as it has the “ein” in there too! If [name]Heidi[/name] is pronounced “hye-dee” and [name]Heinrich[/name] is said like “Hine-rick”, I think Breindel would be closer to “brine-del” (not nice, is it?). I think you should go with the “breen-del” pronunciation as your sister suggested. It’s much prettier in sound!
Thanks mischa, we’ve been pn it with 3 syllables: ie. bry-n-dell or bree-n-dell. hmm maybe that’s not right… Not sure about the flow of 2 syllables though but bren-dell or brin-dell would be better than brine-dell! It is a Yiddish name so it would have Germanic pn. Anyone else got any ideas?
I agree on 2 syllables, brine-dle, not brindle.
