Brennan, Callum and...

[name]Hi[/name] all- I desperately need your help! I’m currently pregnant with my third child due early [name]August[/name] and am having serious name trouble. My two older sons are [name]Brennan[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Callum[/name] [name]Evander[/name]. We’re leaving the gender a surprise with this one so we need help in both the girl and boy areas- though we seem to have more of a head start on the girl front. For girls, we’re currently deciding between [name]Ashling[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name]/Ashlinn [name]Ruth[/name] (what spelling? My husband is from [name]Ireland[/name] but we’re living in [name]America[/name]) and [name]Nora[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] (all the middles are family names). For boys we need suggestions! We were set on [name]Seamus[/name] [name]Graham[/name] but one of our close friends just named their son [name]Seamus[/name] so that’s out. My husband is pushing for [name]Magnus[/name] but I just can’t see it working in the US- what do you guys think?

I know this is a lot of questions but any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Oh and I forgot to mention the boy middles we’re considering are Graham and Sean- both family names. Thanks!

I suggest [name]Caspian[/name], [name]Casimir[/name], [name]Casper[/name]…

Comrac, [name]Finn[/name], [name]Soren[/name], [name]Dean[/name], [name]Rupert[/name], [name]Auberon[/name], [name]Alexander[/name]…

love [name]Brennan[/name] and [name]Callum[/name] together! [name]Both[/name] [name]Ashling[/name] (I would use this spelling) and [name]Nora[/name] go great with the boys but I’m leaning slightly towards [name]Ashling[/name]. [name]Magnus[/name] isn’t my style. Some other suggestions…
[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
[name]Cassius[/name]

[name]Everett[/name] [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name] [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name] [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Angus[/name] [name]Graham[/name]
… For some reason I can’t thgink of any that go better with [name]Sean[/name]

[name]Magnus[/name] isn’t unheard of in the US. I think we need more of them!

Personally I would go with the traditional spelling if you choose [name]Aisling[/name]. [name]Ashling[/name] seems like a half compromise between phonetic and traditional, and Ashlinn looks made up (still this is my 2nd choice). However if you want to avoid pronunciation issues altogether, [name]Nora[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] is beautiful.

Too bad about [name]Seamus[/name] [name]Graham[/name]. That would have been perfect. I think [name]Magnus[/name] is a great alternative and would work fine in the U.S. Not sure what the problem there could be…? I also love [name]Rafferty[/name], [name]Declan[/name] (aside from the same ending as [name]Brennan[/name], fits perfectly otherwise), and [name]Eamon[/name].

I like [name]Nora[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] for a girl; and if you decide to go the other route, I have a strong preference for the [name]Aisling[/name] spelling. I think [name]Magnus[/name] is damn cool, especially if your husband is actually Irish. The kid’ll have the heritage-cred to pull it off!

Wow thanks for all the suggestions! So many gems to run by my husband- I especially love [name]Finn[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], Eamon, and [name]Rafferty[/name]. There were a few others I liked but found a little too close to [name]Brennan[/name]. I don’t know what it is but for some reason I just can’t see myself having a son named [name]Magnus[/name]. Especially since I find myself using [name]Bren[/name] and [name]Cal[/name] more than their full names- is [name]Mag/name too feminine? Maybe it will grow on me. Thanks again!

My sister has a three year old named [name]Magnus[/name] and we usually call him either [name]Mags[/name] or Magoo, though that one will probably stay in the family haha. Great name and totally wearable in the states- they live in Connecticut and have never had a problem!

My [name]Magnus[/name]’ brother’s name is [name]Padraig[/name] if you like that?
