I really like this name, as well as the original, [name]Bryony[/name]. I would likely use the [name]Briony[/name] spelling, but keep the [name]Brian[/name]-y pronunciation. The only thing is, it would probably run together as Briney. Does that still sound alright, or too strange?
It looks like a short name but it is three syllables and I can see many shortening it to Briney. I would leave it as [name]Bryony[/name] though.
Oh no, I don’t like it at all sorry! Briany pronounciation makes it even worse to me.
I much prefer [name]Briar[/name]-[name]Rose[/name].
[name]Briony[/name]/ [name]Bryony[/name] is a beautiful name. I have a young relative named [name]Bryony[/name] and she often shortens it to B or Bry. Also, when my daughter was little, she had a hard time pronouncing it and would call her Brownie.
I adore [name]Bryony[/name]! I’ve never really seen [name]Briony[/name]'s appeal and I’ve only ever heard [name]Bryony[/name] said like BRY-oh-nee so I think [name]Bryony[/name] is just fine. I think Bry is adorable as a nn–I’ve never even considered that it might be shortened to Briney.
[name]Love[/name] it. but I prefer the [name]Bryony[/name] spelling.
I’m with you 100%. I love the [name]Bryony[/name] pronunciation, but prefer the [name]Briony[/name] spelling. I don’t picture it being shortened to “Briney”, but I guess you never know.
In the end, I think the Brye-oh-nie pronunciation (over [name]Bree[/name]-oh-nie) would win out and I’d go with that spelling. Although it’s unlikely I’ll ever use the name since my husband thinks it is too closely related to the male [name]Brian[/name].
I would pronounce it BRY-o-nee and the O is very noticeable. I don’t think people would say BRY-nee. I prefer [name]Bryony[/name] but I like [name]Briony[/name] too.
