Britt for a boy

I love the name [name]Britt[/name] for a boy…but do you think it can stand alone? Or should I stick with naming him [name]Britton[/name] and then calling him [name]Britt[/name]? What are your thoughts and suggestions on the name, are there any other names where [name]Britt[/name] can be used for a nickname?

Thanks. I love the suggestion of Brinton. I wasn’t very keen on Britton either, my mom suggested it instead of simply the name Britt. Do you have any suggestions for middle names?

I don’t know where you live but I’ve heard only girls being called [name]Britton[/name] ([name]North[/name] [name]America[/name]). [name]Britt[/name] Ekland was also a well-known Swedish actress. I’ve heard of [name]Bret[/name]/[name]Brett[/name] for a boy but never [name]Britt[/name]. I like [name]Keats[/name] but not with another surname. [name]One[/name] surname per combo is my rule or your child’s name is in danger of sounding like a corporation. I guess you could get the nn [name]Britt[/name] from any name beginning with “[name]Bri[/name]” (eg. [name]Brighton[/name] is a place name in [name]England[/name]).

I actually love it and know a man named [name]Britt[/name]. He’s very cool, into archery, and no one makes fun of his name. You want to know something cool is that his full name is [name]Brittney[/name] and he got made fun of for that, but once he started going by [name]Britt[/name], that stopped.

I think it works just as well as [name]Brett[/name], but I don’t like [name]Britt[/name] [name]Keats[/name]. It’s very abrupt but if you love it, it shouldn’t matter at all. I also think [name]Britton[/name] works perfectly fine on a boy, it has all sorts of masculine sounds.

Call him [name]Britt[/name] by all means but not [name]Briton[/name]. A [name]Briton[/name] is someone from [name]Britain[/name]. To me that would be like an English person going ‘[name]Hi[/name], I’m Canadian!’, cue confusion as it’s revealed that they meant their first name and not their nationality.

Not a fan of britton. [name]Love[/name] [name]Britt[/name], reminds me of The Flight of the conchord.

This. As a [name]Brit[/name], [name]Britt[/name] sounds weird. [name]May[/name] not be a big deal over the pond, I dunno. But although I’m not keen on [name]Britt[/name], I definitely prefer it to [name]Britton[/name]. And I imagine [name]Britton[/name] [name]Keats[/name] to be a nice little village in the Cotswolds, rather than a name. Sorry if this sounds harsh but those are my thoughts. [name]Brett[/name] was a great suggestion

I like it on a boy.

I like [name]Britton[/name]. It doesn’t strike me as overly feminine. I have meet a boy named Brinton and [name]Brenton[/name].

[name]Brett[/name] in the comedy show Flight or the Conchords is misheard as [name]Britt[/name] due to his [name]New[/name] Zealand accent - he’s asked if his name is [name]Brittney[/name]. I think it would be generally thought of as a girls name, sorry.

hahaha I am so glad you know the show! [name]Bret[/name] is my favorite character. [name]Even[/name] though his name is “[name]Bret[/name]”, it’s pronounced [name]Britt[/name], because of his accent. Therefore, I think [name]Britt[/name] can work as a name. Sorry for any confusion.

I hear [name]Britt[/name] and automatically assume girl. I think [name]Brett[/name] is a great alternative for you…good luck!

Thanks. [name]Love[/name] the suggestion of Brinton.

I love [name]Britt[/name] on a guy! I know a couple male Britts (in the US) and always thought of it as a strong name

I really don’t like it at all. British people are known as Brits so if he ever goes to the UK he will get confused.

I like [name]Britt[/name]! I can see it being very handsome on a boy. I’d go for it as a given name. He’d probably be asked what its short for on the regular, but oh well. If you like the short and punchy sound, [name]Brett[/name] might work for you, too.

I know a lawyer named [name]Britt[/name]. I don’t like it for a full name, but I don’t hate it either. I’d suggest using [name]Britt[/name] as a nickname for longer name because the [name]Britt[/name] I know has said many time that he wishes he had a longer name to use for work, and to just use [name]Britt[/name] as nickname for family and friends. He’s always having to correct people because they call him [name]Brett[/name]. He’s one of few good lawyers we have in town. He’s well known in our small town, but because most people know of him through conversations with others, instead of seeing his name written, they think his name is [name]Brett[/name].

I am a fan! [name]Britt[/name] works, it’s simple & strong. It is a family name
for us and we had it on our list for a boy. Go for it!

Apparently, I’m in the minority, but for years I loved the idea of [name]Britton[/name]/[name]Brittan[/name] nn [name]Britt[/name] for a boy! I used it in a story I started to write years ago, and it’s stuck with me ever since. [name]Britton[/name]/[name]Brittan[/name] isn’t that popular on girls, anyway, and, I actually looked it up–there are more boys named [name]Britton[/name] in the US in the past year than there were girls. I think it’s actually very handsome, I would love to meet a little [name]Britton[/name]/[name]Brittan[/name].

I have a friend named [name]Britton[/name] and he goes solely by [name]Britt[/name]. I love the name. If you want to appease family or whoever, [name]Britton[/name] is a good name to go with and you never had to call him by his full name. Or you could stick with [name]Britt[/name] alone, personally I like it much better than [name]Britton[/name].

Having a British husband, I hear “[name]Britt[/name]” and think “[name]Brit[/name]”, as in short for his nationality. I think [name]Brett[/name] works better.
