[name_u]Baby[/name_u] Boy #2 (child #3) will be here in 3 1/2 weeks and the husband and I have yet to agree on a name! With our first and second we just knew their names. I like their names to “mean something” so we have [name_m]Nixon[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (after Daddy [name_u]Nick[/name_u] and Grandpa [name_u]Chris[/name_u]) and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] (after two great grandmas and a grandma). [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Boy #3’s middle name will be [name_m]Mark[/name_m] after his other grandpa. From the beginning I have loved [name_m]Madden[/name_m]. I don’t have any special meaning for this one but I like how it flows with [name_m]Nixon[/name_m]. The Husband HATES it so I gave up long ago. Then I started trying to think more towards “meaningful” names. This is when I came up with [name_m]Bronx[/name_m]. I originally wanted [name_m]Braun[/name_m] being that my maiden name is [name_m]Brown[/name_m] ([name_m]Braun[/name_m] is brown in german which my family is) but my oh so stubborn husband said no. Then my 3 year old started asking if his baby brothers name had an X in his name like his (his very favorite letter so far, my walls can prove it…). He has been very adamant ever since that his brother SHOULD have an X like him. It’s a little bit of a stretch but that’s where [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] came in - [name_m]Braun[/name_m] + X. Anyway. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband (surprise surprise) DESPISES [name_m]Bronx[/name_m]. The other day I brought up [name_m]Madden[/name_m] again and now he’s totally on board (trying to avoid [name_m]Bronx[/name_m]) but I’m kind of in love with [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] now… so what do you think??
[name_m]Bronx[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] [name_m]Judson[/name_m]
Or
[name_m]Madden[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] [name_m]Judson[/name_m]
Which fits best with my other children’s names? Any negative things you think of right off the bat? Thanks in advance for all opinions!
In English, [name_m]Madden[/name_m] is a verb meaning ‘to drive mad’. I think that’s pretty negative, like naming your child Infuriate or Annoy. But if you wanted it and your husband now agrees, but hates your other option, it seems like it’s the better pick out of the two. You can’t name him something your husband hates, right? You could try asking him to come up with a few suggestions if the dynamic so far has been you suggest, he says no.
You could smoosh the two names together and get [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] nm [name_u]Max[/name_u]?? I don’t like [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] or [name_m]Madden[/name_m], sorry.
I don’t think it’s fair to make your husband choose between [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] and [name_m]Madden[/name_m] when he doesn’t like either name. [name_m]Madden[/name_m] just feels, well, mad, and [name_m]Brown[/name_m] to [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] is a huge stretch and still has the lingering celebrity baby name vibe. I would start over completely. I like the suggestion of [name_m]Maddox[/name_m]. Other “x” names that sound good with surname [name_m]Judson[/name_m]:
between [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] and [name_m]Madden[/name_m], I would choose [name_m]Madden[/name_m] but I think [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] is your best bet if hubby agrees. I don’t think it’s fair to make him choose between two names be doesn’t really like. I second the above suggestions as well. Also, what about [name_m]Xander[/name_m]? Or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. Or also:
[name_m]Calix[/name_m]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Jax[/name_m]
[name_m]Lennox[/name_m] nn [name_u]Lex[/name_u]
[name_m]Lynx[/name_m]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
Maybe you and your SO can come up with a new short list of some cool names with an X in them and decide on one together. If you can’t agree on a name that has an X in it, then make a list of names you both like but let [name_m]Nixon[/name_m] choose one so he maybe still feels a connection to his brother’s name since he is excited about it.
Out of the two, I think I like [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] more, but if your husband is willing to go with [name_m]Madden[/name_m] just because he hates [name_m]Bronx[/name_m] that much then maybe you should just go with [name_m]Madden[/name_m], or pick a different name. I really like the suggestions of [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] and [name_m]Bronson[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Bronson[/name_m] [name_m]Judson[/name_m] is too much. [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] [name_m]Judson[/name_m] would be cute.
