Brooklyn. boy or girl?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] for a boy or girl. I’m leaning more towards boy.

Thanks

I think of it as a girls’ name just because I know 3 little girls called [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] and no boys. [name_m]Brookes[/name_m] is more masculine in my opinion.

I only know a dog named [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]…but, its a girl dog, so girl I guess…Although I really dislike place names (for the most part) on girls because they don’t feel feminine at all, [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] does contain [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] which are both girl names to me.

[name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m]'s son is the only male [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] I’ve ever heard of. I’d lean towards girl since that’s what I’ve seen the most.

It’s firmly in the girl camp for me. I know the Beckhams used this name on their first son, but that’s the only boy I’ve ever heard of with the name. I think the -lyn ending makes it more feminine; it lumps it in with [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], etc.

I’d suggest [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] as an alternative to [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u].

I’ve only ever met girls named [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. I agree with pp about [name_m]Brookes[/name_m]. But the [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] ending makes it all girl to me.

I’ve also only heard it on girls. My guess is that would be the general consensus.

Definitely girl. I know too many girl [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]'s to even count. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] is pretty attractive though so it’s not a bad face for a boy [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u].

I dislike it on both genders but I guess I’d have to say boy.

[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] would be the girls alternative and is much more prettier and usable

The only [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] I have known (or known of, in this case) is [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m], who’s a boy. So, I lean towards boy.

Definitely a girl name. I have met several little girls named [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. The lyn ending makes it feminine to me. Like [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], etc. I have also only met girls named [name_u]Brooke[/name_u].
