Which name and why?
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] as it’s sweet and feminine. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] I think of as a boys name because of [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] [name_m]Beckham[/name_m] and my cousin likes it for a son.
I prefer [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]…it just sounds cooler and looks pretty IMHO. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] was one of the woeful stepsisters in [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f]…I just can’t shake this negative association…
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]! Very classy. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is soo trendy!
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]! It’s a gorgeous name that ages very well. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is really trendy and also where I live, so it feels odd to me to see it used as a name.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]! I have a gorgeous friend named this and I think the name ages well. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], however, feels trendy (something I don’t like in a name.)
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is too trendy and just not my style. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is actually a bit fancy for my taste, but it’s more classic and there are lots of nickname possibilities for it, so it’s more versatile.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]! Absolutely!
I’m surprising myself and saying [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]! I think [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is a bit over the top for some reason. I love [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] has a nice sound.
I’m shocked anyone is saying [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. I’m a [name_m]New[/name_m] Yorker, and I can guarantee that any kid unfortunate enough to be named after a borough - particularly one that’s currently struggling with gentrification and which is famously hostile to outsiders, especially tourists - is going to have to give this entire state a pretty wide berth for the rest of her life. That aside, [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is flimsy, trendy, silly, and without history. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] could not be more the opposite. She’s not only gorgeous, but has a storied lineage with many great bearers for your daughter to look up to. But [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] isn’t a one-person name: far from it. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is eminently versatile, impossible to date (she could be a toddler or a grandmother), and lends herself to a number of great nicknames. This is truly a name that will see your daughter through a lifetime. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]…not so much.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]! It’s elegant, sophisticated, and gorgeous. It has lots of history but feels modern at the same time. There are lots of nickname options should she want one, but [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] itself can be used too- [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] are four syllables too, and lots of people with those names go by their full names. (I prefer the five-syllable Russian pronunciation, ah-nah-stah-zee-ah, myself, but most English speakers will say ann-ah-stay-zha.)
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] without a doubt. It’s so beautiful and timeless. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] makes me think of a blue-collar neighborhood. Not such a bad association but not one I would want for my daughter. If you are leaning heavily toward [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] then I would consider [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]. It doesn’t sound as pretty but at least it loses that low-income connotation.
I like [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] because it is a beautiful classic name. The name [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is a place that I go all the time so I don’t like it.
I like both [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] & [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f].
I would personally choose [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] over [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. I like that it sounds strong yet feminine. But you can’t go wrong with either name.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] by a mile. It’s classic and beautiful, yet still unique, and she can always go by [name_f]Ana[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f] if she likes. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is trendy, will be dated very soon, and is going down market fast.
Oh, please don’t make me pick! [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is on my top list, paired with [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but I have loved [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] for soooo long!
It depends what you’re looking for… Trendy, popular, snazzy, a little edgy? Pick [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. Sweet, ultra-feminine, cutesy? Pick [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f].
It’s hard to compare these two names because of their differences. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is super trendy with the -lyn ending, whereas [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is long and beautiful. It kind of depends on what you are looking for, but my pick is [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f].
I don’t care for either. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is super trendy and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is too over the top for me. I would go with [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] if I had to choose.
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is a longtime favorite, and I never understood the love for [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] even when the name was hip. So, I vote [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] for SO many reasons… Like, it’s not a borough of [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m], for one. It’s gorgeous, for two. It’s historic and meaningful and not trendy like [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]…
