[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I really like the name [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] for our next baby boy, Our last name is Meyers so I’m not sure if it will work with both ending in S, any thoughts?
I think it’s ok, though certainly not ideal. I think the shared ending kind of makes it sound like you’re saying “[name_u]Brook[/name_u] Smeyers”
All that matters is whether or not you love the name, though.
I think its ok, not perfect but if you love the name it sounds alright!
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is a very handsome name, it is in our top 5. [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] Meyers may not be perfect sound wise but it’s not that bad. The most important thing is feeling a connection with the name. If you both feel a connection to this name and feel it’s the one, use it. Most people outside of baby name forums would not even notice, or care, that both names end in S.
At first I thought of the Myers-[name_m]Briggs[/name_m] Type Indicator for personalities. It’s probably weird that I would think about that though…
It really depends on how important flow is to you. I really care about good flow, and how the names sound, so I would not use [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] Meyers. If [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] were a longer name ending in -s the flow would be better, think [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m].
If [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is the only name you like and agree on, then [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] is the name you should use. If you have other choices you like, set [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] aside for a while focusing on the others. Maybe one of them will feel as good as [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] to you in the end.
If you do use [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], I would suggest giving him a longer middle name to create more breathing room between the double -s endings ^^
Thanks for all the advice & I’m liking ya’lls taste in names, We were thinking [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for the middle name. Another Option we like for a first name is [name_m]Beau[/name_m].
Funny, I was also thinking of the [name_m]Myer[/name_m]-[name_m]Briggs[/name_m] test! I’m not a fan of surname first names at all, so I don’t like [name_m]Brooks[/name_m]. Maybe [name_u]Brook[/name_u] would be better but still not my style.
However, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]! I wish I could get my husband to consider it (but he has a friend called [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] so he vetoed the name). If it was me I would use [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] for a first name. It’s a beautiful, sophisticated sounding name with a rich history.
[name_m]Beau[/name_m] again I’m not a fan off. I always have to think, what if the child grows up to be really ugly. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] [name_m]Wayne[/name_m] [name_m]Rooney[/name_m] being called [name_m]Beau[/name_m]… A [name_m]French[/name_m] sounding name (like [name_m]Beau[/name_m]) with a similar vibe which I really like is [name_m]Benoit[/name_m] ([name_m]Ben[/name_m]-no[name_m]AH[/name_m]). You could still call him [name_m]Beau[/name_m] as a nickname if he’s good looking enough.
Honest opinion: [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] Meyers sounds to me more like [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] Meyers. I mean, it sounds like the ‘s’ inside is a mistake… I don’t know, it’s just something in the flow
I think it sounds a bit like a company name or a brand.
Maybe [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] as middle name would work a little better.
I think its a great name but maybe [name_u]Brook[/name_u] or [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] would help it flow better? The names are very similar but stop the ‘smeyers’ or ‘smelliot’…
I do like the name [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], but I’m with quite a few of the others, I thought of the Myers-[name_m]Briggs[/name_m] personality testing/corporate feel to the name. I think you can’t go wrong with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] though
