Need some advice on naming baby boy number two who will be here soon… [name]Ashton[/name] [name]Ryland[/name] Claytor, aka [name]Ash[/name] is our first.
First or middle has to be a family name, and since there are a lot of women that have been influential, it will require some masculinization to fit a boy. Here are my choices so far: [name]Donovan[/name]* (from [name]Donna[/name]), [name]George[/name]*, [name]Emmett[/name] (from [name]Emily[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] & [name]Emma[/name]), [name]Ellis[/name] (from [name]Ellen[/name]/[name]Elena[/name] and distant uncle), Thacker (but ending in R doesn’t seem to fit with our surname). Also, we will likely have a third (with any luck a girl, eg [name]Reagan[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Ainsley[/name], [name]Blake[/name], etc), and we seem to favor more comtemporary-feeling names that would be as happy on a playing field as in a board room-- most of which seem to end in N. (Too matchy or maybe not a big deal?) Also, there is [name]German[/name] heritage on one side and English and Southern heritage on both.
Here are some ideas we have had for little man thus far:
[name]Chase[/name] [name]Donovan[/name] (CDC would be the initials- is that enough of a problem to not use the combo?)
[name]Donovan[/name] [name]George[/name] (but need nickname suggestion other than [name]Donny[/name].)
[name]Donovan[/name] [name]Rhys[/name] (same problem as above)
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name] ______ ?
[name]Declan[/name] [name]George[/name] ([name]Dex[/name] is a fun nickname, but too Irish?)
[name]Chase[/name] [name]Donovan[/name] ( I see no problem with the initials)
[name]Lincoln[/name] [name]Ellis[/name]/ [name]George[/name] (I like both middle names, but the nn [name]Linc[/name] is super cute with [name]Ash[/name])
[name]Declan[/name] [name]George[/name] (love [name]Declan[/name] and the nn [name]Dex[/name], and I don’t think its too Irish)
I was thinking [name]Conrad[/name] for your [name]German[/name] heritage, its not very common, it means brave and it works well with brother [name]Ashton[/name] ans your last name.
Thank you for the input! Your suggestions reassure us that we are at least on the right track. Middle name suggestions for [name]Conrad[/name]? What do you think about [name]Van[/name] as a nickname for [name]Donovan[/name]? A business acquaintance suggested it today…
Also, do you have thoughts about breaking up the names ending in N for the second seeing how we are hoping for a third? Note that my husband’s name ends in N as well… maybe it doesn’t matter that much if the names are awesome.
Boyandgirl, thank you for the suggestions! I don’t think we could do [name]George[/name] as a first name, but [name]Emmett[/name] is one that has lingered as a possibility. What would the nickname be though? And did you have a suggestion on the middle name?
The middle name I would use for [name]Conrad[/name] is [name]Miles[/name], I think [name]Conrad[/name] [name]Miles[/name] flows nicely together.
Is there a family name you could use in the middle spot for [name]Conrad[/name]?
or you could use [name]Conrad[/name] [name]Emmett[/name]?
You can get a name from your [name]German[/name] heritage and you also can use the name [name]Emmett[/name] that you like.
Ok, littlest man came early, and we are down to [name]Chase[/name] [name]Donovan[/name] or [name]Donovan[/name] ____. ([name]Rhys[/name]? [name]James[/name]?) [name]Declan[/name] [name]George[/name] was a close option, but we decided to save it in case number three is a boy. We would love some advice from the Berries!
Congratulations on your new addition! I really like [name]Donovan[/name] [name]Rhys[/name], [name]Van[/name] is a fabulous nn for [name]Donovan[/name].
Thanks for the weigh in! My husband just suggested [name]Donovan[/name] [name]Chase[/name] as a compromise. So, [name]Donovan[/name] [name]Chase[/name] Claytor or [name]Chase[/name] [name]Donovan[/name] Claytor?
I love [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name]. I’d pair any of these with [name]George[/name], [name]Rhys[/name], or [name]Ellis[/name]. I think [name]Bennett[/name] probably goes best with your son’s name but [name]Sebastian[/name] is my favourite.
I like [name]Donovan[/name] [name]Rhys[/name]. Nn could be [name]Van[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Beckett[/name] sound cool with [name]Ashton[/name]. [name]Ash[/name] and [name]Ben[/name] or [name]Ash[/name] and [name]Beck[/name].
What about [name]Decker[/name]?
