Brother for Ellington and Willoughby

Trying to decide on a name for baby brother. His big sisters are [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] Marie(Ellie) and [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] Josephine(Bee). I would like to keep with the surname theme but it has been difficult to find one we like. Right now our top names are:

Beaumont(Monty)
Fitzroy(Roy)
Frederic(Fritz)
Caspian(Kip)
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]

I personally love [name_m]Monty[/name_m], while my husband prefers [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], which I think is too similar to [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. I think we both agree on the F names.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Also our last name starts with a B.

I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] the best of your top names. I like the nn [name_f]Ro[/name_f] too.

Other suggestions:
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u] nn [name_u]Lenny[/name_u]
[name_u]Callahan[/name_u] nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u]
[name_u]Halston[/name_u] nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m]
[name_m]Smith[/name_m]

With Ellingt0n and Will0ughby, here are some surname ideas…
[name_m]Wycliffe[/name_m] - Wyc
[name_u]Jagger[/name_u]
[name_m]Watson[/name_m]
[name_m]Foster[/name_m]
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_m]Merrick[/name_m]
Corwith
Hildreth
[name_u]Sinclair[/name_u]
[name_u]Halston[/name_u] - [name_m]Hal[/name_m]
[name_m]Larson[/name_m] - [name_m]Lars[/name_m]
[name_m]Pierson[/name_m] - [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Rollins[/name_m] - Roly
[name_u]Anderson[/name_u] - [name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_u]Halsey[/name_u]
[name_m]Elwood[/name_m] - [name_m]Woody[/name_m]

The two syllable names really don’t need to be shortened with a nickname.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought for you was [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] “Cal”!

It has the cool jazzy connection to [name_u]Ellington[/name_u], a naturey meaning to fit with [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], and great nickname potential.

I like [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] “Monty” a lot too — other options could be [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] or even [name_m]Montague[/name_m].

[name_m]Fitzroy[/name_m] is cool, but I’d call him [name_m]Fitz[/name_m]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] how sparky it is. [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] could be another fun literary way to get there.

You seem to like lively, rhythmic surname names with great nickname potential, so I’d recommend looking at some of the Irish surnames. There are some lovely ones! [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_u]Callahan[/name_u], [name_u]Finnegan[/name_u], Rafferty…

How about [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] or [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]?

Beaumont, Fitzroy, and Frederic (plus the nicknames) are all outstanding options! I love these!!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] you girls’ names!

[name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] “Monty” is fabulous!! I like [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] “Kip” too

A couple of suggestions

[name_u]Ellington[/name_u], [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] and…

I think [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] ‘Monty’ is absolutely perfect with [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] and [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u]! [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] ‘Kip’ is fantastic too, although I don’t love that it ends with an ‘n’ like [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] does, whereas [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] is different. [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] is perfect in part because it has a distinct ending.

Others I think would go brilliantly (and yes, some contradict what I just said about distinctive endings) are:

[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m], [name_u]Calloway[/name_u], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_u]Finnegan[/name_u], [name_m]Chester[/name_m], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_u]Franklin[/name_u], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], Cassius/Cassian, [name_m]Baxter[/name_m] and [name_m]Fraser[/name_m].

[name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] is perfection!

[name_u]Ellington[/name_u], [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] and [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] - [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f] and [name_m]Monty[/name_m] - are my favourite sibset! I also really like [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] because of their nicknames (Fritz and [name_m]Kip[/name_m]  )

However, the fact that [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] and [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u] share the -ll- makes me thing about the following names:

  • [name_m]Lloyd[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Llewellyn[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Achilles[/name_m]

[name_m]Callister[/name_m], nickname [name_u]Cal[/name_u]

Instead of [name_u]Callahan[/name_u], how about [name_m]Callister[/name_m]. As a pp suggested, I love the idea of all the names repeating the double Ls and this way they all have different ending sounds. [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] and [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] would both have the N sound at the end.

[name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f], and [name_u]Cal[/name_u]

First of all, your older kids’ names are fabulous! I love the pairing of energetic, unexpected full names with sweet, familiar nicknames. Here are my thoughts on each of your choices…

[name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] “Monty”: I think this fits beautifully into your sibset! I’m not 100% sold on [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] personally, but [name_m]Monty[/name_m] is really fun!
[name_m]Fitzroy[/name_m] “Roy”: [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s not my personal style, another cool, fresh choice! I think I would prefer [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] as a nickname here.
[name_m]Frederic[/name_m] “Fritz”: I love [name_m]Fritz[/name_m] for your sibset, but [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] does strike me as a bit more classic/formal than your girls’ names. Not a dealbreaker by any means–I don’t think sibling sets have to match unless you want them too–but just something I noticed here.
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] “Kip”: I’m not the biggest fan of [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], but I can absolutely see the appeal–and I adore [name_m]Kip[/name_m] for your sibset.
[name_u]Beckett[/name_u]: I love [name_u]Beckett[/name_u]! It does stand out to me a little bit in your sibset, maybe just because it’s quite a bit more familiar/popular than the other two? But like I said, I don’t think that’s a problem unless it bothers you. Would you consider [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a nickname here? [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f] & [name_u]Kit[/name_u] would be so perfect.
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]: Like [name_u]Beckett[/name_u], this one doesn’t necessarily strike me as the most natural fit for your trio, but it definitely works and I like it!

In terms of suggestions…I want to second @katinka’s suggestion of [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] “Cal,” which I think is pretty much perfection. [name_u]Or[/name_u] @diane921’s [name_m]Callister[/name_m] “Cal”? I [name_u]Ellington[/name_u], [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u], and Calloway/Callister and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f] & [name_u]Cal[/name_u] are both amazing.

Other ideas (repeats are agreements)…

[name_m]Casimir[/name_m] “Cas”
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] “Dash”
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] “Van”
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] “Iggy”
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] “Iggy” or “Indy”
[name_u]Leander[/name_u] “Leo”
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m] “Finn”
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] “Rafa”
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] “Sunny”
