Brother for Iris & George

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] #3 (BOY!) due this fall. He will be a brother for [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. I had a looooong list of girls names, but feel a little stumped when it comes to boys.

I like classic names that aren’t too common. While I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], etc…I know so many of them. (I realize [name_m]George[/name_m] could probably be considered common too!). I kind of like a bit of quirky thrown in (British-inspired, maybe?). I also love a name like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m], but paired with [name_m]George[/name_m] it feels like I’m getting too royal (am I overthinking that?).

As you can see, I’m all over the place! Here’s my list as of now (and none of them are dazzling me):

[name_m]Mack[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] (I like the nickname [name_m]Walt[/name_m])
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Ned[/name_m]

Help! And thanks!

I love [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Edward[/name_m] works too. It doesn’t feel royal to me since it’s relatively common. You could use [name_m]Ned[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Edward[/name_m].

[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_u]Ray[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m]
[name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]

For some reason [name_m]Orson[/name_m] came to mind.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m]

I’m sensitive to the royal thing myself, but I don’t feel that [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m] sound too royal with [name_m]George[/name_m], especially with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] to further diffuse it. ([name_m]George[/name_m] together with [name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_m]William[/name_m] would sound slightly more royal to me).

In addition to [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], I would suggest:

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]

I’m loving [name_m]Mack[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], and [name_m]Ned[/name_m] with [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. They’re all names that would stand out, yet fit in with his peers. I agree that [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] wouldn’t be too royal - although they do all have a slightly British feel. If you’re still looking, what about:
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Duncan[/name_m]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]/[name_m]Archer[/name_m]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m] & [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is great

[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]

I find myself recommending these two a lot but with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] are both very appealing. [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] also comes to mind but might be too uncommon next to his siblings’ names? (Also don’t know how you’d feel about both boys starting with G.)

Some other ideas:
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]/[name_m]Milo[/name_m] (I lean towards [name_m]Milo[/name_m] here)
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]
[name_m]Clive[/name_m]
[name_u]Howard[/name_u]
[name_m]Warren[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Basil[/name_m]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u] (looks a bit out of place beside these other options but I feel is goes so well with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m].)
[name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], and…

[name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Brian[/name_m], [name_u]Chase[/name_u], [name_u]Dash[/name_u]/[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddy[/name_u], [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], [name_u]Olly[/name_u]/[name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]

From your list, I’m loving [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_m]Walter[/name_m] as possibilities for a brother to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. I would also second the suggestions of [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m].

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], and:

  • [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Eugene[/name_m]
  • [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] with a more fun mn.

Also [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] nn [name_m]Stan[/name_m] or a long form of [name_m]Bill[/name_m].

I like your original idea of [name_m]Walter[/name_m] as a brother to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m].

[name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], and…
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

A lot of classic names are in use by various royal families right now so it might be slim pickings if you want to avoid that… however names picked by royals who aren’t British aren’t as obvious such as [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Carl[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m], [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]…

Alternatively you could consider: [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Richard[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m]

With [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] (gorgeous sibset by the way!!) I really like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].
