We had such a hard time finding a boy name that we liked the first time. Any suggestions for a brother for Isaiah Blaise? Our last name is 2 syllables, Latino in origin, starts with V and ends with a Z sound.
Reasons why we liked Isaiah:
I love vowel sounds. Our girl names were Evelina (eh-vuh-lee-nuh) and Viviana. Isaiah sounds sing-songy with no sharp edges but still very masculine
Repeating sounds. Isaiah (eye-zay-uh) Blaise (pronounced like the word Blaze) and our last name all have a repeating Z sound that makes it feel like it goes together. Evelina and Viviana both would have a repeating V sound with our last name. Not required but it just sounds nice to me.
It’s common enough that people know the name once they’ve heard it but not so common that we run into many other kids named Isaiah.
It’s Biblical. Obviously not tied to Biblical names, our girl names aren’t, but we’re Christians so it was a fun perk.
