We are hitting a brick wall when trying to come up with a boy’s name we both love, so would appreciate any help!
Older brother is [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], but we’re not especially looking for another Biblical name. Would like a name with 2 or 3 syllables. Would like it to be a similar popularity to [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], i.e. a well-known name but not super common. The middle name is most likely to be [name_m]Daniel[/name_m].
Names we’re currently considering are:
[name_m]Evan[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Robin[/name_m]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m]
Which is your favourite of those names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other suggestions which meet the criteria? Thanks in advance!
Looking at your list I love [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Robin[/name_m] + [name_m]Orson[/name_m]. [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is such a lovely name really handsome, cuddly and cosy especially with the nickname [name_m]Toby[/name_m]. I think J0nah & [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] sound fab together. [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is also gorgeous feels soft, romantic and outdoorsy. I especially love the bird connection between J0nah + [name_m]Robin[/name_m] very sweet. Finally [name_m]Orson[/name_m] feels super fashionable with J0nah such a great pairing.
Suggestions…
[name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m] ~ I like that both names mean ‘dove’
[name_m]Amos[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Rome[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Moses[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_f]Wren[/name_f]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Corbin[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Forest[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Flynn[/name_m]
[name_m]Dorian[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for the other suggestions too. I didn’t realise that [name_m]Callum[/name_m] meant dove too. We do like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] too, but I’m sure he’d inevitably end up as a [name_m]Sam[/name_m] which I don’t love as much. Thanks again.
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] is a wonderful name! I adore [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m] for his brother. [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] sound very gentle and amiable. I admire that both [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m] have an animal themed meaning.
I think [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Evan[/name_m], or [name_m]Robin[/name_m] all fit that really well! They feel similar to [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and a similar popularity level.
I think all of the names you are considering would make a great brother for [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_m]Evan[/name_m]. [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_m]Evan[/name_m] are dreamy!
Some other ideas:
[name_f]Marlo[/name_f] (Marlow/Marlowe)
[name_m]Harlan[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Roscoe[/name_m] (I like an O ending don’t I? )
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] (I’m not sure how strongly this would make a biblical pairing where you are)
I was going to suggest [name_m]Evander[/name_m], but unfortunately I don’t think it goes well with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]? Perhaps it sounds better in an American accent where the R will separate the two D sounds more than my [name_f]English[/name_f] one does, if this applies!
Thank you. I do like [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] but was worried about the religious meaning as I’m not religious so I’m glad you’ve said that. Thanks for the other suggestions too, some nice ones there.

[name_m]Evan[/name_m] is my favorite, I think it sounds good with [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], and it goes well with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] too.
Other names you may or may not like:
[name_m]Liam[/name_m] (meaning “resolute protection”) (friend’s name)
[name_m]Colton[/name_m] (meaning “from the coal or dark town” ) (I don’t like the meaning much, but the name sounds nice, and I know two amazing people with that name, one of my best friends and one of my old teachers)
By the way, I got both meanings from here on nameberry
Thanks everyone. I think we’ve narrowed it down to:
[name_m]Evan[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] or
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
…as my partner doesn’t like any of the other suggested names! But still not sure.
