Hi, again, I SO appreciated all the love and help with the girls’ name list earlier that I’m back for more. I’m newly pregnant with our second and distracting myself from first-trimester anxiety by going through our name ideas. My husband’s family seems to ONLY make boys (like in 4 generations, only 3 of the 17 people born into the family are girls…) so I’m mentally preparing - and excited! - for another boy.
Our son is Pax. If you don’t want to pop into the Girls Name forum for a full recap, the girls names we’ve gravitated toward are short, feminine, vintage, little-used: Flora, Clea, Viola, Maeva, Georgia…
One sort-of hard thing about Pax is that it can go well with trendy, short, modern-badass, mavericky names that I don’t generally gravitate toward. So here is what is currently in the running:
Lane - family name on DH’s side, we both like it a lot
George - another family name, but we did already honor this branch of the family…
Kit - it was recommended as a girl option, too, which we also like, but is it a tongue-twister with our last name? Also, we don’t like Christopher, so it would just be Kit…
Wilder - a long love, if maybe a tad trendy. Is naming one kid “peace” and one “wilder” asking for trouble? In fairness, our Pax is SUPER CHILL so any kid would be wilder…
Davenport - family name
Revels - family name
Mariner - a family name wayyyyy up my side
Other names in the family tree: Peter, Francis, Jerry, Leslie, Clarence, lots of Biblical Thomases, Samuels, Davids, etc. Royden, Creighton, Taft, Lorenzo (maybe Laurence? I like Ren/Wren…), Eason, Winslow, Cader, Lilley, Allen, Fidelis
Thoughts? New ideas paired with any of these? Combos I’m not seeing? Please halp.
