Hoping for help thinking of boy name options for baby 2. We haven’t found out the gender yet but we have a few girls names we love and no boys names we can agree on. Our first is a boy named [name_m]Théodore[/name_m] and so far has been exclusively called [name_m]Teddy[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] I prefer longer names with a cute shorter nickname option. He will be attending a fully [name_f]French[/name_f] school so [name_f]French[/name_f] or bilingual names or names that at least can be pronounced in [name_f]French[/name_f]. Also despite our first sons name ideally not a name with religious meanings.
[name_f][/name_f]
Names I love but DH has vetoed: [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Olivier[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Dorian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Emerson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]Léomaris
[name_f][/name_f]
(Our top choice for a second son was [name_m]Adrien[/name_m] but my best friend had a son 2 months after our first and named him [name_m]Adrien[/name_m]. We are very close and they attend the same daycare)
[name_f][/name_f]
Names my husband loves but I have vetoed: [name_f][/name_f]Morrisea [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Morrison[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Napoléon[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
Names we don’t reallyy love but also don’t hate so kind of considering: [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Augustus[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jameson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Kelvin[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f](We like the nn [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] hence all the names ending in -son)
[name_f][/name_f]
Girls names we both love: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
Of the list of ones you’re both considering, I like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- which is connected to “Teddy” due to its meaning (“bear cub”). I also really like [name_m]Walter[/name_m] (“Walt”). The only one I don’t like is [name_m]Kelvin[/name_m]. I think it sounds dated (similar to Kevin) and isn’t stylistically related to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and might attract (mild) teasing (being a unit of measurement).
[name_f][/name_f]
(Just in case it resurfaces, do you mean [name_m]Morrissey[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- or Morrisea [name_f][/name_f]- for the name your DH likes?)
I think that’ll seem like a girls’ (made up name) Mor-riss-ee-ah or a very cre8tive spelling of the boys’ (Irish last name) Morrissey. I would avoid his spelling. There are other ocean inspired names: 200+ Inspired Ocean Names for Babies | Nameberry
Christoph(er) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Renaud[/name_m] … I love [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] & [name_m]Ren[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]( sort of feels like [name_m]Adrien[/name_m], but also different enough that you won’t associate with your friends little Adrien) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] nn [name_m]Cass[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] nn [name_m]Sully[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jason[/name_m] nn [name_m]Sonny[/name_m] or [name_m]Jay[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Evander[/name_m] nn Ev or [name_m]Evan[/name_m] or [name_m]Andy[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Roman[/name_m] nn [name_m]Rome[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Callan[/name_m] nn [name_m]Cal[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] nn [name_m]Cole[/name_m] or [name_m]Nicky[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Leon[/name_m] nn [name_m]Lee[/name_m]
I’m enjoying your list! I am a francophone who ALSO has a [name_m]Théodore[/name_m]. We speak primarily [name_f]English[/name_f] st home and my partner is [name_f]English[/name_f] though, so the [name_f]French[/name_f] pronounciation is not as important in our case, but I’ll be going for a [name_f]French[/name_f] middle name, or the [name_f]English[/name_f] version of my last name (Love) for a middle.
[name_f][/name_f]
A few mentions here won’t work in [name_f]French[/name_f], but on your list, going with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] I enjoy:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] (we are considering it as a middle) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Alexandre[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Julien[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nicola[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Luca[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Dominic[/name_m] (we are considering this one, but I know [name_f]Dominique[/name_f] is a much more common [name_f]French[/name_f] name) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Noah[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Auguste[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]
I also love [name_m]Adrien[/name_m] (too similar to my daughter’s name) and the [name_f]English[/name_f] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (doesn’t work with last name.
[name_f][/name_f]
I love the suggestion of [name_m]Frédéric[/name_m] but [name_m]Freddy[/name_m] and [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] are too close. I also can’t use this name either, it’s a good one!
