What y’all think of [name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name]? I much prefer it to things like [name]Bria[/name] and [name]Brianna[/name]…and it has the Atonement character behind it. Thoughts?
The first time I saw the name [name]Briony[/name] was while reading Atonement, which is one of my favorite books. I think it’s a pretty name.
I love [name]Bryony[/name]. I dislike almost all Br-names, except for [name]Bridget[/name], so it surprises me how drawn to the name I am. I’ve always had trouble deciding on the spelling, because while [name]Bryony[/name] is the authentic spelling, I think [name]Briony[/name] looks better.
I dislike the name [name]Briony[/name]. Partly because it just sounds like “briney” to me (like brine), and also because I hated the character in Atonement haha. I definitely prefer the [name]Briony[/name] spelling though, [name]Bryony[/name] looks off to me.
I agree with lexikj about it sounding like briney, but I think it’s better than lots of [name]Bri[/name]- names.
I love it. I first heard it in Atonement (the movie), and fell in love with it instantly. BUT…I hate the [name]Bryony[/name] spelling. That completely ruins it for me. [name]Briony[/name] is the way to go, in my opinion.
I hate all the trendy Br- names floating around, but I do love [name]Briony[/name]. My sister was [name]Breanna[/name] way back before the trend started and I’ve always liked that and I’ve always liked [name]Bria[/name] as a more modern sounding form and [name]Bridget[/name] is pretty -
BUT, freakin Braylee, [name]Briley[/name], [name]Braelyn[/name]…ugh, shoot me.
I like both spellings, but i don’t associate it with the Atonement character (who i dont remember liking when i read the book). I like it as it is
I really like [name]Briony[/name] and instantly think of Atonement. I dislike it spelt [name]Bryony[/name] however.
I like [name]Briony[/name], but spelled with an I.
[name]Love[/name] it. Knew a child called [name]Bryony[/name] about… 30 years ago!
She was called [name]Bri[/name]-oh-nee (said quickly not drawn out)
I love the name. When I was little , I had those “[name]Flower[/name] [name]Fairy[/name]” books and the [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Fairy[/name] was one of my favorites. That’s where I first heard it, but didn’t know it was an actual name until “Atonement.”
I guess I am in the minority in that I prefer [name]Bryony[/name] over [name]Briony[/name].
I feel just the same. The first time I ever heard it was Atonement, but I didn’t like her character. Since it is a botanical name in its own right, however, I think it is a lovely, unique choice!
I love [name]Bryony[/name]! Spelled with two "Y"s. I would love to meet one–it’s such a beautiful, underused nature name.
I like it a lot, and I have years before Atonement.
as per above post:
I like [name]Briony[/name], but spelled with an I.
I like it. I think I prefer [name]Briony[/name]
I love [name]Bryony[/name]! Much prefer the ‘y’ spelling to the ‘I’ spelling. Also love NN [name]Bridie[/name]! Gorgeous name!
