Seriously, build it for me please. I am so stuck! I used to have several names I loved, but many have lost their luster or just don’t feel right anymore.
We’re close to TTC (eek!) and I think we have a couple of solid boy contenders that we both like. We have zero for the girls, however.
Our boy shortlist includes:
Maxwell David/Davis
Ames Lysander/Alexander
Cormac
Miles
Some girl names I’ve previously liked & why I’m unsure now:
Ruby - so many people are using this for pets, and it’s becoming super popular in the states. And, an acquaintance is using Ruby Lou for her girl which (for some reason I don’t know!) has just ended it for me.
Georgia - a long time favorite of mine, but my husband doesn’t really like it. And, our last name is a city name so I worry about it being too place-y.
Sloane - most of you know this is my favorite ever, but I know DH really dislikes it and his opinion matters as much as my own.
Margot - I still love her, though DH has been a little lukewarm about it. Last name ends in long -o, so flow is a little concerning, but because it has 3 syllables it could work IMO.
Phoebe - same as Margot, and I’m wondering about potential popularity and the association with the FRIENDS TV show (which I am a huge fan of!)
A few other considerations:
-
I tend to dislike names that end in -bella, -ella, and -anna/-ana.
-
I tend to like names that are more classic and familiar but have good nickname potential.
-
Names outside of the Top 100 are a plus, though I could make an exception for a few (like Miles).
-
Our last name starts and ends with -o and is the name of a city (think magical mouse!) and flow is really important to me.
If you’ve made it this far, congrats! I know this community is so supportive and has some really great naming powers, so thank you for any help you can offer!
