But we really love Cyril!

this is really frustrating me so sorry if i go on a bit!..

we found out recently that our twins will be a boy and a girl. We pretty much have the girl name sorted but the boy is killing me!

we love [name]Cyril[/name]!..like adore it but our major problem is our three year old is [name]Sybil[/name]. My husband basically says “who cares if we have a [name]Cyril[/name] and a [name]Sybil[/name]” but to me, it is really obvious how close they are and it bugs me.

i love names and always have and i am one for “the names have to go together”. Our style is definatly traditional vintage edge. I have tried to spell [name]Cyril[/name], [name]Cyrille[/name] but it doesnt work for me because i have to have it spelled the “correct” way. We have considered other names but something just keeps tugging everytime we come back to [name]Cyril[/name]. Whats more i love how its such an unusual name for this day and age and he wont be one of twenty with the same name in his class at school (like i was!).

our other considerations have been:

[name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Archibald[/name]

please give us your opinions!..what do you say?..find a different name or go with [name]Cyril[/name]?

[name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Cyan[/name], [name]Cyprian[/name]… Cyrillus? I think [name]Sybill[/name] and [name]Cyril[/name] are way too close for siblings.

I think [name]Sybil[/name] and [name]Cyril[/name] are a little to close. :frowning:

I really like [name]Edwin[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] form your list.

I was going to suggest [name]Cyrus[/name], but [name]Ottilie[/name] beat me to it.

Agree that they are far too close. Btw I know a baby [name]Cyril[/name] (9m old) and it is a very sweet name on a young one.

I think -bald is not something to saddle a boy with, despite the cute, ubiquitous nn [name]Archie[/name]. I much prefer [name]Edmund[/name] to [name]Edwin[/name], personally, and think [name]Rupert[/name] is another tough one to wear well.

[name]Wallace[/name]
seconding [name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Ambrose[/name]
[name]Cassius[/name] / [name]Cassian[/name]
[name]Clement[/name]
Aidric
[name]Marcellus[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
Forsythe
[name]Alden[/name]
[name]Osmond[/name]

Why not just [name]Cy[/name]? It worked for [name]Cy[/name] Twombly…

Firt name that came to mind was

[name]Cecil[/name]

Also:

[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Cedric[/name]
[name]Seymour[/name]
[name]Sirius[/name]
[name]Cicero[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]

I do think they are a bit too close.

I like the other suggestions of [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Cedric[/name], and [name]Silas[/name].

Of your other options, [name]Arthur[/name] is really cute. I think it’d go well with his older sister [name]Sybil[/name].

Other suggestions: [name]Jules[/name], [name]Merrill[/name], [name]Fergus[/name], [name]Ulysses[/name], [name]Winslow[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Desmond[/name]

I think they really are too close. If they end up at the same school , their teachers will be tearing out their hair."[name]Cyril[/name] Xxx?" “NO, his sister [name]Sybil[/name] Xxx.” In a pinch, you could go with the traditional Slavic version of the name - [name]Kiril[/name], but I think that would still be too close to [name]Sybil[/name] for my comfort.

I really do like the suggestion of [name]Cyprian[/name]. Your other choices are all quite good.
