I had Egberta [name]Maria[/name] and [name]Bernard[/name] [name]Mike[/name]. My sisters had [name]Constance[/name] [name]Stacy[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Vincent[/name], and [name]Marcella[/name] [name]Jill[/name].
I love my Cabbage Patch dolls still!!
1st) [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Emma[/name] – loved it then and still love it now. She has red hair and still sleeps in my daughter’s bed.
2nd) [name]Kali[/name] [name]Lynda[/name] (preemie) – I didn’t like the name at the time, and called her [name]Lynn[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name].
3rd) [name]Carlos[/name] [name]Dunbar[/name] – Hated it! I renamed him [name]Stephen[/name] [name]Randall[/name] after my dad and call him [name]Randy[/name]
4th) [name]Christy[/name] [name]Bernice[/name] – [name]Red[/name] cornsilk hair!
5th) [name]Esmeralda[/name] [name]Maybelle[/name] – This girl was adorable, but I thought her name was awful, so I renamed her a name that I thought was absolutely beautiful and precious – [name]Patrizia[/name] [name]Velvet[/name]. Oh yes I did and I pronounced that ‘z’ with all kinds of beauty in my voice. Ha ha ha. I called her [name]Trixie[/name] though.
My sister had [name]Leda[/name] [name]Dot[/name] (although now as an adult she insists it was [name]Leah[/name] [name]Dot[/name]), and my husband had [name]Daryl[/name] [name]Louis[/name] (I may be wrong on that spelling, but we still have his birth certificate and keep it in the file with our birth/marriage certificates ha ha ha).
When my daughter was born, my sister found a 1983 Cabbage Patch on ebay still in the box (although the box was damaged). It had red hair just like mine!! She got it for my daughter, and it came with the name [name]Nelly[/name] [name]Kali[/name]. We renamed it together, and her name is [name]Piper[/name] [name]Zoe[/name]. [name]Piper[/name] has a big long story behind it that involves my daughter still being called [name]Piper[/name] now, and she’s six! and I just let my sister pick the other name because she bought it and she said [name]Zoe[/name]. We did go back and forth for awhile between [name]Piper[/name] [name]Zoe[/name] or [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Piper[/name] before settling. My daughter usually calls her by her full name, because she also has a Build-A-[name]Bear[/name] named [name]Piper[/name] [name]Narnia[/name].
I don’t remember if I even had one of my own, just hand me downs that I wouldn’t know the names for. But my sister bought one for my daughter just last year and it came with the name [name]Jaidyn[/name] [name]Addison[/name]… I threw away the tag and asked my daughter what her baby’s name was. Lol.
DH had one named [name]Adam[/name] [name]Albert[/name]. He still remembers that doll, although it was given away a looooonnnnnnggggg time ago. My parents were dead set against trendy toys, so I never got one or [name]Barbie[/name] dolls either. lol!
I had several but I only remember [name]Karen[/name], [name]Frances[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name]. I have a son named [name]Elliot[/name] now so I guess I really liked that one!

Mine was [name]Nicolette[/name] [name]Charyl[/name] - I named her! It was the height of the craze, and the local department store managed to get them just days before [name]Christmas[/name] by importing them from Germany. (Apparently, the Germans didn’t get it.) They were outrageously priced - I remember hearing my parents debating the purchase - but the fact that no one had to camp out in front of a Toys’R’Us made it worth it. They came with airplane tickets and adoption papers, but no names - we had to fill out their names. Their first birthday cards were in [name]German[/name]. I kept all of that for ages, and honestly? I kind of wish I still had the paperwork, if not the doll …
Anyone remember that Friends episode where [name]Joey[/name] refers to his CPK doll named [name]Alicia[/name] [name]Mae[/name] [name]Emory[/name]?? Haha!
I got Fame and [name]Louis[/name] (don’t remember them having middle names, my parents must not have told me them) when I was… 4? And then later I got [name]Estelle[/name], a talking one, again, don’t remember her middle name… I think my sister or cousing had one named [name]Debbie[/name]…
I had a red haired doll who’s name was [name]Vicky[/name]. I got her when I was really little and we lost the birth certificate so I’m not sure if that’s her real name or what her middle name is…
Mine was [name]Elva[/name] [name]Mavis[/name], so I called her [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
My sister had a bald boy one named [name]Augustin[/name] [name]Finley[/name]. We thought that was a very odd name back then, but I think it is pretty cool now. We changed his name to [name]Justin[/name].
I read once that people go to the Cabbage Patch and submit names for the Cabbage Patch kids. I’m guessing that ours were named by elderly people.
YES! I loooooovvvvve it <3 Please hurry and make that “someday” happen before I get pregnant with my own babyberries!
WHAAAT??? Egberta? And my goodness, [name]Bernard[/name] [name]Mike[/name]? What names! The rest are ok. I’m pretty sure that I’d have switched [name]Marcella[/name] [name]Jill[/name] to [name]Jill[/name] [name]Marcella[/name], but at least to a child the others would be [name]Connie[/name] and [name]Tommy[/name].
You don’t even know how excited I got when I saw this topic! Thank you for sharing what you found out about [name]Xavier[/name] using 1930 name books! I never would have thought to think where all those random names came from!
I had a HUGE collection of CPKs: some were new, some were used (I’m a firm believer that yard sales have got to be the best thing for a kid!), but ALL were loved. And still are! I have every single one of them! My very first doll was not a CPK, her name was [name]Jill[/name]. But the two of us were always playing with my homemade Cabbage Patches who I named [name]Cindy[/name] and [name]Lacey[/name]. [name]Susannah[/name] (I lovingly called her [name]Suzie[/name]) was a curly red head with a bright green and orange bathing suit; her plastic body could go in water and actually TANNED in the sun!! I remember picking up [name]Cathy[/name] and Preemie Joshy (both I named) from yard sales. [name]Cathy[/name] was my ultimate favorite~ she was another all plastic one and I took her everywhere, even pierced her ears! She still wears those little pink heart studs Yes, she and Joshy were two of my favorites!
Does anyone else remember the mini collection coming out in about 1996? I was in 5th grade then, and I got as many as possible! $5.00 for a little doll, who was small enough to keep on top of your school desk, was heaven! [name]Hannah[/name] was the thick-haired school girl that came with a lunch pail, then there was [name]Dawn[/name] who came with a bath tub, rubber ducky and robe! Oh, my, I do believe I have about 20 of them! But the most intriguing name of them all had to be [name]Lavinia[/name]. To this day, that name is one of my girly favorites. My husband isn’t too keen on it, but I will always keep it tucked away in my heart along with the rest of my Cabbage Patch friends from yesteryear
I want this job! Seriously!
About six or seven years ago, cabbage patch kids came back and were popular in my area (not sure about anywhere else) and I had three, [name]Alisa[/name], [name]Drew/name and [name]Macy[/name]. I can’t remember the middles, but I was actually pretty content with their names. My friends name was [name]Amanda[/name] and [name]Emily[/name].
I only had one, her name was [name]Norma[/name]. My parents chose that one specifically because my dad’s mother was named [name]Norma[/name], and she died before I was born, so I never got to meet her.
Cute thread! I never knew the CPK’s had so many unusual names… or middle names!
I can’t remember their middle names, but I had [name]Doreen[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], and [name]Cole[/name].
I think mine was named “[name]Colleen[/name]” something-or-other, and thinking it wasn’t fancy enough. So, armed with my name books, I renamed her [name]Clytie[/name] [name]Jessamyn[/name].
I also recall watching a commercial for CPK and feeling slighted that my doll wasn’t named “[name]Amanda[/name] [name]Jane[/name]” like the one on the commercial, and thus renaming my toy panda bear [name]Amanda[/name] [name]Jane[/name].
Mine was [name]Campbell[/name] [name]Emma[/name], which I immediately changed to [name]Emma[/name] [name]Campbell[/name]
I had a girl named [name]Marion[/name] and I forget my boy one’s name! I later got a baby preemie one that was named [name]Patricia[/name] that I changed to [name]Cleopatra[/name]. [name]Patricia[/name] wasn’t nearly glam enough for my tastes!!
