Caedmon

What about [name]Caedmon[/name]? Hot or not?
It’s really growing on me and it’s probably one of my favs at the moment, but BF are not so sure about it. And yeah, how does it sound with [name]Drake[/name]? And with surname, [name]Caedmon[/name] Wilde?

I am actually not sure what the correct pronunciation would be. Depending on the pronunciation, I may be a little bit concerned that it could sound similar to caveman.

There are pronunciation issues with this name because I think it’s pronounced Cad-mun. I prefer Cad-mun to [name]Cade[/name]-mun, but you’d be forever correcting people. I do love the name though. “Cad” is not the best word though. And a “Cad [name]Man[/name]” is probably not what you would hope your son to be. I think anything would sound great with your awesome surname, but [name]Caedmon[/name] certainly does.

I think it’s phenomenal. [name]Caedmon[/name] was an interesting historical figure (a lay monk who composed hymn of such beauty-- despite likely being illiterate-- he was noticed by the rich and powerful, and his only extant hymn is still used). [name]Caedmon[/name] and [name]Drake[/name] sound like a great pair of brothers-- not too matchy, not too themey, but they work. I think you have a wonderful surname in Wilde but it does limit your first name choices, as it can skew cartoony.

I love [name]Caedmon[/name]. I would probably use it as a middle name (see my signature), mainly because of its pronunciation issues. CAD-mun is the correct pronunciation, but I have seen at least one baby name book that said [name]CADE[/name]-mun; and I don’t want to get rid of that lovely E in order to simplify the pronunciation. [name]Cadmon[/name] just doesn’t cut it for me.
And I love the story of St. [name]Caedmon[/name] and [name]Caedmon[/name]'s Hymn, which [name]Blade[/name] has referenced above.
I think [name]Caedmon[/name] is fine with [name]Drake[/name] and great with Wilde.

I think [name]Caedmon[/name] is wonderful. I love the sound of it and I think it makes for a very interesting choice.

Thanks everyone!
I think I will have to convince [name]Jake[/name] to use [name]Caedmon[/name] if we’re having a boy. Absolutely love [name]Caedmon[/name]!

Yeah, I feel it’s a solid name choice. It’s unique and has history. He’ll probably have to correct some mispronunciations when teachers first come across his name in the roll sheets, but that’s not such a big deal. [name]One[/name] people have heard it correct once, it’ll be said correctly from there on out. And I think it matches up just fine with [name]Drake[/name] and LN Wilde.

I think it’s nice and goes very well with [name]Drake[/name] (which I adore by the way).
There’s a band called [name]Caedmon[/name]'s Call (not sure if they’re still around but I still have some of their music) so it was very familiar to me.
I guess the main problem would be if you wanted to call him [name]Cade[/name]/Caed) how to spell it, since Caed isn’t a natural spelling.

A great choice and I agree with blade 100%.

I love it. Sounds nice with your LN and with [name]Drake[/name], too.
