They were paired because they work the same evening shift, and he always encourages [name_f]Tamika[/name_f] to bring home some of their cooking to feed her family for dinner. He double-checks all the food to make sure the recipes are followed and they fit the quality customers expect. He and [name_f]Tamika[/name_f] have consistently won ‘Chef Team of the Month’ awards.
When not helping [name_f]Tamika[/name_f] (who affectionately calls him “Ade the Spade” - in return he calls her “Mika Chika”), he has a side hustle repairing people’s electronic devices - one time he fixed Vera’s laptop.

She got her whole family addicted to their sugar cookies after she spotted [name_u]Ren[/name_u] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] selling them on the street. With her allowance she goes regularly to buy them. [name_u]Ren[/name_u] introduced her to [name_f]Tyla[/name_f] and they have become besties. She is jealous of Tyla’s topsy-turvy lifestyle and begs her parents to homeschool her, although she’s fine with going to school like a normal person for the time being. [name_f]Tyla[/name_f] turned [name_u]Loren[/name_u] on to mythology and they have built their own mythological universe. She hopes someday her and Tyla’s stories will be turned into a movie.

He’s made his best learning about and getting along with Tress and [name_u]Joe[/name_u] [name_u]Joe[/name_u]. He’s also the biological uncle of a few other children. He and [name_f]Maja[/name_f] both work in graphic design. [name_u]Krishna[/name_u] is an expert builder and enjoys science related shows. He loves winter the best and is often outside in the snow. For the moment, [name_u]Krishna[/name_u] is not interested in marriage.

Rekha Sulini [name_f]Arusha[/name_f] (12) is one of Krishna’s nieces. She and her family live the closest to her uncle. She was in home preschool when her uncle adopted [name_u]Loren[/name_u] and the two bonded quickly afterward. [name_m]Even[/name_m] now, they have frequent playdates, some even including [name_f]Tyla[/name_f]. She has a talent for illustration, and after hearing [name_u]Loren[/name_u] discuss mythology with [name_f]Tyla[/name_f], she gets more sketchbook ideas. She has created many maps and characters for the girls, who appreciate Rekha’s service and even give her feedback.
She has proposed the idea of a “Homeschooler’s Yearbook Club” to her uncle and is convinced it would take off.

[name_m]Ganesh[/name_m] and his wife are both talented illustrators and he’s good friends with [name_f]Maja[/name_f] and knows all her children.

[name_u]Cody[/name_u] is one of Mac’s many stuffed turtles. One year, during a family vacation in [name_f]Grenada[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u] noticed a stuffed turtle in one of the souvenir shop windows and gestured [name_m]Mac[/name_m] to notice. He knew he had to get it, because ‘he sees turtle, he buys turtle’.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] like the main trio of Maja’s stuffed cows - a herd that all the kids still hold dear - [name_u]Cody[/name_u] can warm up in a microwave and reveal a lavender scent, the only one of Mac’s bale who can do so. This helps [name_m]Mac[/name_m] relieve from any pain he might be feeling. He is kind enough to let anyone borrow [name_u]Cody[/name_u] should all of Maja’s warm up cows be in use.

They’re often mistaken for boyfriend and girlfriend, which they laugh off- it would never happen, because [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] is aromantic-asexual. She hates whenever someone tells her “she just hasn’t found the right person” or that she doesn’t have feelings- she does love [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and would do almost anything for him, but she just doesn’t feel romantic attraction towards him. [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] and [name_u]Jay[/name_u] have been good friends since childhood. [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] was always fascinated with [name_f]Grenada[/name_f] and wanted to go someday, as it sounded so cool. [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] also loves sunny weather- though her favorite season would have to be winter. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] was when she was born, and when she got her cat. While she loves her half siblings, she wishes her mother were a little more devoted to her. Ironically, they share a first name- they both use nicknames though. Bennie’s always been a bit of a tomboy ever since she was a little kid.

[name_u]Bennie[/name_u] has ADHD and it’s often hard for her to keep track of all the tasks she has to deal with, but she does her best at managing them. She currently lives with a roommate- she often has to tell people that she’s not dating her roommate, but she loves them in a friend way. She lives in [name_m]Orlando[/name_m], [name_f]Florida[/name_f], and while she knows it’s hard for [name_u]Jay[/name_u] to come see her because of the pressure being a flight attendant can put on him, she’s always eager when he stops by and visits her. On weekdays, [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] works at an ice rink as an instructor- she loves skating and roller blading. On weekends, she works at the dollar general downtown, a job she loves significantly less but manages doing just to pay the bills. Right now, [name_u]Bennie[/name_u] is really unsure of what she’s doing right now but she’s happy to have [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and her roommate to help her along the way.

He’s very excited to be engaged to [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and is enjoying engaged life. He never took the relationship for granted and was beyond happy that she said yes to his proposal. [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] has a sister and brother that are both in the wedding. Calvin’s sister is Bennie’s roommate.

Harvey Caleb Winton (26) is a friend to Calvin. His parents are wonderful people and he is happy to have Calvin as a family friend. He still supports Haley too and is on good terms with his niece, her daughter. He knows Bennie since she and Haley are roommates and he’s taken a job at dollar general as well. He has no children or wife but has a girlfriend.

They’ve been together for just over a year but are happy to be taking things slow and not listening to anyone’s insinuations about them moving in together. EJ currently lives with her sister, who’s in her final year of university, and is very content with this arrangement; a little ironically as they used to loathe sharing a room together when they were kids (however maturing has led to them enjoying being so close).
Having graduated with a degree in photography, EJ’s got a growing Insta following, however to remain financially stable she works as a bartender and deputy shift manager at an experimental cocktail bar. She isn’t particularly stressed about this, something she credits to her parents being very supportive people who haven’t pressured her about the progression of her career; something that surprised some of her friends, as they’re both successful academics. Alongside her sister, she shares their apartment with her rescue dog: a poodle named Custard, who she jokingly calls her ‘practice child’, regarding her hopes of having children some day.

She’s appreciative of EJ and Harvey’s relationship and she completely understands their decision not to marry soon. While other girls grew up dreaming of their perfect wedding, [name_u]Nova[/name_u] never felt that and didn’t feel like she’d want to be married when she grew up. People claimed she only felt that because “she was so young and she’ll change when she’s an adult.” Nope, her view is actually stronger and she is questioning if she’s possibly asexual after all these years. While being legally tied down to a romantic partner is not something [name_u]Nova[/name_u] aspires, she’s still supportive of those who want to marry. EJ and Nova’s aunt is currently engaged and is wedding planning with her fiancé. EJ and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] like her fiancé but are not really comfortable with her fiancé’s parents and grandparents from what they know. The fiancé’s parents and grandparents are rather judgemental given the fact that he’s marrying for the first time but it’s not the same for their aunt, and they disdain her for having a previous spouse before him. Ultimately, they’re consenting adults and they’re going to marry regardless.
Currently [name_u]Nova[/name_u] is in her final year of university and is excited to graduate with her major in communications. She’s got a part-time job working at a smoothie place near EJ’s cocktail bar. [name_u]Nova[/name_u] always jokes about how smoothies are “better than alcohol” but the two are close and love visiting and ordering when each other is on shift. As children, she and EJ used to share a room and the two insisted on having their own room…but even after having their own room, [name_u]Nova[/name_u] changed her mind and wanted to share again with EJ. Eventually she got over that bit now she likes sharing a room again with EJ and the two enjoy quality time with one another more and more. They’re also both very close with Custard and couldn’t imagine the room without that sweet poodle. They’re both very good cooks and although they both work in careers involving beverages, they both enjoy home-cooked meals and alternate days on who cooks dinner.

There’s always a weird stigma bouncing about the McCarthy’s, specifically regarding marriage and children, with his grandparents being especially pushy regarding great-grandkids. Unlike several cousins, Jack’s never been too certain about starting a family of his own - contrasting with his older cousin, who’s fathered six children with his wives [the second marriage occurring following the tragic passing of his first wife, acceptable circumstances for his extended family] - and he knows once the marriage happens, this will become a new point of contention, having warned his fiancé of this at the time of his proposal. The meddling ways of Jack’s parents and grandparents cost him an engagement before, namely with his college girlfriend who ended up unable to deal with their constant questions about marriage, something that led to him being semi-estranged from them for some time. It was only when his cousin’s wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer that [name_u]Jack[/name_u] began speaking to them again, and that was mostly to ease tensions for his cousin due to the delicate personal circumstances he was experiencing. He’s called uncle by his cousin’s kids and basically serves in that role to them from an emotional standpoint, but doesn’t overstep boundaries for their biological aunt - his other cousin - as she’s recently become pregnant and absolutely was the ‘fun aunt’; not wanting to diminish her time with the kids before her own child’s welcomed.
Thankfully his mother’s family - the Aldershot’s - are much more easygoing, and have been supporting the engagement openly. His mom does improve when she sees her two sister’s - and [name_u]Jack[/name_u] has admitted to his fiancé and several close friends that he feels her in-laws [his grandparents] have influenced her negatively; with her conforming more to receive their acceptance - but [name_u]Jack[/name_u] doesn’t get his hopes up too much. The one thing they are able to bond over, even leading to her being kinder regarding his fiancé [divorced and all, the horror] because of how she’s been so loving towards the rescue dogs Jack’s mom helped him adopt, as she’s an accountant for a pet based charity. He has a chocolate lab named [name_u]Coco[/name_u] and Husky named [name_u]Lenny[/name_u], both of whom adore his fiancé, and he has allowed EJ and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] to take them for walks a few times; although [name_u]Jack[/name_u] doesn’t let his cousin’s kids know, as they’d be very jealous thanks to how badly they want to take the dogs out by themselves.
[name_u]Jack[/name_u] has a degree in ecology and currently runs a plant nursery with a friend he met while completing his masters. His grandparents haven’t hidden they consider this overly ‘humble’ - a polite way of voicing it’s ‘beneath him’ in their eyes - but as per usual he’s just ignoring them. Travelling used to be his main escape from their criticisms, spending time abroad in countries where his love of nature only became more pronounced, and he cultivates unusual plants in his own indoor garden [alongside his small outdoor one]. The area where he lives has a huge field nearby, which is why he didn’t go for a huge garden - not to mention [name_u]Jack[/name_u] knows it’s not a good idea trying to cultivate anything too dramatic given he owns two excitable, fun-loving dogs who are always leaping about. He’s unsurprisingly big on environmental concerns and tends to bike most places, although he does own a car - for quick escapes as he jokingly calls leaving if his grandparents want to bother them - which [name_u]Lenny[/name_u] and [name_u]Coco[/name_u] absolutely love going for rides in when allowed. Given his judgemental relatives, it surprises people how Jack’s such an accepting, progressive person, with a diverse friend circle and desire to address social issues, however he credits this to the friends he made growing up, who helped him escape the madness of his grandparents.

A lot of people get the wrong idea about her because of her hair, her clothes, and how she usually walks around with earbuds in, but she’s actually one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She just doesn’t want to talk to you if she can help it. She would much rather do small acts of service (that she doesn’t have to get credit for) or spend time doing quiet activities together, like puzzles, painting, reading, gardening, and walking slowly through art museums to really think about each piece. Speaking out loud just isn’t her thing; but language is.
She grew up in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] speaking [name_u]French[/name_u] and [name_f]English[/name_f] as well as the two main sign languages there, ASL and LSQ, because both she and her mother are partially deaf. She most recently learned [name_m]German[/name_m], Tagalog, Mandarin, and Arabic, and she’s working on creating her own language for a high fantasy novel she’s been planning since she was 12.
Since they’ve known each other for a couple years now, [name_u]Jack[/name_u] recently introduced her to [name_u]Nova[/name_u], and they both encouraged her to go to college for something related to Communication or Linguistics. She’s hesitant because she’s been saving up her money for a worldwide trip (and by worldwide, she means worldwide—she wants to see as many corners of as many continents as possible). But she’s starting to consider taking some college courses while she’s in Europe/Asia so she can find a way to share her passion with the world. Because the thing is, she may be mostly nonverbal/nonspeaking, but she loves connecting with others and the world they live in, and she sees language in everything: iceskating, dancing, music, plants, fashion, architecture, cooking, and art. People, animals, the earth, and even technology speak to each other and themselves, and they don’t have to say a word. And to her, that’s incredibly comforting—and powerful.

Their mother had complications in her pregnancy of the twins and went into labour early, giving birth to [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]. [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] was monitored at the hospital while the doctors tried to delay her labour and keep [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] in the womb longer. [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] stayed in the womb for extra weeks until their mother gave birth to her. [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] and Valencia‘s hair represent their birth months, [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] was born in late [name_u]December[/name_u], and has hair representing the turquoise zircon and [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] early [name_u]February[/name_u], with hair representing the amethyst. [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] sometimes goes by “Evra” or “Ever” while [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] sometimes goes by “Val” or “Via”.
[name_f]Valencia[/name_f] is a fan of woodshop and recently got into making art with melted glass. Her house has beautiful stained glass windows. She is often Ginevra’s rock and she completely gets her sister’s life. [name_u]Val[/name_u] often makes sure Evra isn’t being stereotyped or misjudged for this and believes those who do so aren’t good friends to have in your life anyway. She and [name_u]Ever[/name_u] hang out a lot and often don’t say anything, just enjoy each other’s presence. [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] herself isn’t deaf but has learned sign language and other languages from them. She can be somewhat guilted that she isn’t deaf and questions if it’s because she had fewer complications to being born later. She knows it’s not her fault and she’s currently majoring in education to become a teacher for the deaf. [name_f]Via[/name_f] and [name_u]Ever[/name_u] have many good friends but they’re not officially a friend group; they have EJ, [name_u]Nova[/name_u], the eldest daughter of Jack’s cousin, and each have pen pals abroad.
