[name_f]Miraal[/name_f] " Mir " [name_f]Belen[/name_f] Juanas (21) is the roommate of [name_m]Geoff[/name_m] and [name_f]Darya[/name_f], as well as the observer of their unspoken feelings: which she’s 98% certain she’s way more aware of than both parties at the centre. A sociology major, swimming has always been something Mir’s refused to consider professionally given how much joy it brings her away from academics, however this doesn’t mean she lacks some healthy competitive spirit when it’s time to prove herself. She and [name_f]Darya[/name_f] became friends when they were newbies on the team, who usually turned up for practice about 20 minutes early, and after a bit of awkwardness [not knowing what was to be expected], they’d use this time to grab a drink and get to know one another better, leading to a strong bond being forged between them.
It wasn’t long before Geoff’s name was mentioned, and given the tone used, Mir actually assumed he was Darya’s boyfriend…but she just managed to not throw anyone into panic mode as it dawned on her the feelings on display were presently unspoken of. While some people would loathe the idea of this living situation, Mir’s adapted quickly to it. She doesn’t consider it her place to force anyone’s emotions out into the open, instead doing her best to encourage [name_f]Darya[/name_f] and [name_m]Geoff[/name_m] to talk to one another instead of remaining silent and stewing in ‘what ifs’. Then again, it also helps Mir has her own girlfriend to spend time with when the sense of pining’s even a little much for her to witness.
Mir’s father is Latino - specifically Argentinean American - while her mother’s Pakistani American, and this dual heritage is something that’s helped her bond with [name_m]Geoff[/name_m] since they met. When Mir cooks she tends to lean more into her mom’s recipes, mostly because it’s always a good means to create lots of leftovers in a quick fashion [and Mir admits she’s lazy with serious food prep so max supply’s a good motivator]. She’s one of four children - two sisters, one brother and one non-binary sibling - being the second youngest in the birth order. Given how direct and self-assured she is, this surprises people when she reveals it, however when the family are together it’s very apparent they’re all just naturally confident in their own ways.
Unlike [name_f]Darya[/name_f], Mir doesn’t have a firm plan for what she intends on doing once she’s graduated. She’s considered going into research or maybe settling down with a practical job as she finds her feet, but nothing’s been secured by her mentally or in an actual plan. Her girlfriend’s a geography major who loves travel so that’s something else they’ve considered doing together. Something else that’ll likely dictate this is if she has any nieces or nephews, as her older siblings are both in serious relationships [living with partners, one couple are engaged], as Mir’s always promised to be there to help with childcare, and forging strong bonds with her siblings kids is something she’s serious about. And hey - as Mir jokes with her partner - maybe they’ll be back in time for [name_f]Darya[/name_f] and Geoff’s wedding!
