Caiden?

I’m 32 weeks with #2, and we’re team green so their gender will be a total surprise! We really like [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] for a first name but we can’t seem to totally commit to it. His middle name is going to be [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] after my husband, so [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. What do you think? [name_m]How[/name_m] does it sound with big sister [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Rylee[/name_u] ([name_f]Avary[/name_f])? Any other suggestions? Other names we’ve tossed around have been [name_u]Carson[/name_u], [name_u]Carter[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] but we prefer [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] the most out of those.

There are a few issues with the name [name_m]Caiden[/name_m], though you’ll need to decide whether these are issues for you. Over the last 10 years, -aiden names of various spellings and configurations ([name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_m]Kaden[/name_m], [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u]) as well as soundalikes ([name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]) appeared out of nowhere and shot to the top of the top 100 list. That means that your son will likely spend the first 18 years of his life in an age cohort of similarly- if not identically-named children of all genders.

Furthermore, because this name is so trendy, it will also become very dated very fast. See this link for more information about trendy names:

[name_m]How[/name_m] many little girls named [name_f]Linda[/name_f] do you know? [name_m]How[/name_m] about little boys named [name_u]Gary[/name_u]? The reason we now think of these as “old people” names is because they were extremely trendy for one generation – and then more or less fell off the list. The same will be true of [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] (and probably [name_u]Carson[/name_u], [name_u]Carter[/name_u], and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] as well).

Of the names on your list, [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] is the most timeless, sophisticated, and handsome (in my opinion). I think that it will age the best and take your son through every stage of life.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] sound great together. However, I think [name_m]Caiden[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], and friends are incredibly overdone at this point. I’d rather see [name_u]Carson[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], or [name_u]Carter[/name_u].

I like the name [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] as well as the nickname [name_u]Cade[/name_u].

I like [name_u]Carter[/name_u] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] with [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] because those two names don’t end in N so they don’t blend, but I don’t think it matters that much. You seem to really love [name_m]Caiden[/name_m], and if nothing else is coming close, that may be your name! A few others you may like:
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
[name_u]Brady[/name_u]
[name_m]Jackson[/name_m]

[name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_m]Colin[/name_m]
[name_m]Preston[/name_m]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_m]Greyson[/name_m]
[name_m]Mack[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]

I think it works well with [name_f]Ava[/name_f].

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] work well together. I prefer the [name_m]Caden[/name_m] spelling but that’s not a big deal.

I know 3 boys by this name (well, one [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], one [name_u]Kayden[/name_u] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], and one [name_m]Cayden[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]). Their moms are all friends or acquaintances of mine and their biggest complaints seem to be 1) there are so many boys who share the name [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] or the other variations ([name_m]Zayden[/name_m], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], etc) and 2) spelling issues, since people have come up with a billion ways to spell this one name.

I’m not really a fan of any of the -aden names, honestly. However, I do think that [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] go well together! I also do like how the strong, traditional [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] balances out the first name. Also, out of the many ways to spell the name, I think that [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] looks the most pleasing.

I’m not a huge fan of the -aiden names but that aside I like the spelling of [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] and think it goes well with [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].

Besides not being a fan of -aden names, I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] are too matchy (2 syllable names with a long “a”). My favorite from your list is [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], but it has the same issue. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Callen[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_m]Colton[/name_m], or [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]?

I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] sound nice together. I’d prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Cade[/name_u] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], but you have to go with what you love!

I really like [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] do you pronounce it [name_u]Kayden[/name_u] or Kyeden? Pronounced the same way as [name_u]Kayden[/name_u] (as I would) it rhymes nicely with the long A of [name_f]Ava[/name_f], without being too matchy. [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is a gorgeous strong name, and personally I think the popularity of similar sounds in recent years gives it a classic more than a flash-in-the-pan modern feel these days.

All round good choice imo

I agree with all the previous posters comments re the trendiness of -aden names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] way too overdone in my opinion.

However, I feel I might be the only one that thinks this, but I see [name_f]Ava[/name_f] as a bit more timeless and classic whereas [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] is super trendy. The two don’t seem to go well together as a sibset for me (but again, this is just personal opinion, I might be the only one who thinks this, so take it with a grain of salt).

Of your choices, my pick would be [name_m]Caleb[/name_m].

Is there a particular reason you are wanting a Ca name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you just like the sound/feel?

What do you think of

[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] or [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]? I also like the previous suggestion of [name_m]Callum[/name_m].
