Cal as a nn for Malcolm?

Can you see [name]Cal[/name] working as a nn for [name]Malcolm[/name]? I love the sound of [name]Cal[/name] and have been crushing on [name]Malcolm[/name] lately so I was wondering if anyone else thinks this would work or if it’s just me becuase I want it to work.

I agree. I love [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Colm[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you not like [name]Callum[/name], [name]Callen[/name], [name]Calvin[/name] to get to [name]Cal[/name]?

But the letters are all there, and you can pretty much do whatever you want.

[name]Callister[/name] is one of your favorite names and you want to use [name]Cal[/name] as a nickname for [name]Malcolm[/name]?

I think it works!

[name]Cal[/name] is a bit of a stretch for [name]Malcolm[/name].

Yeah.

If you like [name]Malcolm[/name], what about [name]Callum[/name] (which I realize has already been suggested)?

Thanks for the input, currently I have [name]Callister[/name] on my list as my “[name]Cal[/name]” name, I was just wondering if [name]Malcolm[/name] might work too, of course I would never use both. For some reason [name]Callum[/name] and [name]Callan[/name] don’t appeal to me and I would never use [name]Calvin[/name], as much as I like the sound, due to a veriety of reasons

I think it works. [name]Malcolm[/name] is such an handsome name though, I don’t know why it needs a nickname!

Let his future friends come up with the nicknames.
Not your job.

I think [name]Cal[/name] is completely usable with [name]Malcolm[/name]. We briefly considered [name]Malcolm[/name] a while back, and [name]Cal[/name] was the NN I was planning with it too.

I get where you’re coming from here but parents do have a say in the child’s nn, in my experiance if you have a prefered nn for your child rather than just calling them by their full name you can have some control over unwanted nicknames. People shorten names, so having a prefered nn is a good idea.

Great to know I’m not the only one who thought of it!

For nn, I think more of [name]Cole[/name] than [name]Cal[/name]. I guess I attribute [name]Cal[/name] to [name]Calvin[/name] and the likes…

I do think [name]Cole[/name] is more intuitive. [name]Cal[/name] could work, but I think it will only catch on if you use it all the time and introduce him as [name]Cal[/name]. If someone were to meet him as a [name]Malcolm[/name], I doubt they would gravitate toward [name]Cal[/name] without a big push.

I prefer [name]Callum[/name] nn [name]Cal[/name] and [name]Malcolm[/name] nn [name]Mac[/name]!
