Which do you prefer? Why? Would they work together for a sib set or even twin names or are they too matchy?
Prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but like both and think they work as sibling names.
I prefer [name_f]Calista[/name_f] slightly. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is not really my style. I can’t imagine giving a child a name with such a meaning.
The two names are too different in style and “feel” to be a sibset imo.
I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and think they would work in a sib set.
I don’t find them too matchy, I don’t find them matchy at all!
Actually, I think that inspite of the “C” connection, they don’t have much to do with eachother. I think of [name_f]Calista[/name_f] as an ancient classical name which while being revived assumed a very modern and edgy feeling. [name_f]One[/name_f] of those names that people who don’t know about it’s classical past would possibly think it made up. I do almost like it, but something about the strong C and T sounds together throws me off.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f], on the other hand, I think of it as a grandmother’s name who has a lot of potencial due to its sweet sound. My [name_m]French[/name_m] teacher is called [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], very nice lady. Still, I find it a little bit stiff. I’d say, give it some years and it will be fresh again.
@cloverish mentioned the meaning of the names. It would be slightly weird to name one of your daughters “most beautiful” and the other “blind”. But if you don’t mind it, I’m sure it wouldn’t be a real problem.
What about:
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] & [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Calista[/name_f] & [name_f]Feodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f] (look at my signature and see how biased I am). I really like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] too, but not [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_f]Calista[/name_f] together.
I like both, I’ve got [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] and [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] on my list (almost the same!). I think they’re fine as siblings as there’s a hard and a soft C, but they’re very different. It’s okay though, they’re both pretty and sweet.
Can I choose neither?
But in the end, its the childs personality and not their name that will make them who they are, so choose whatever you like!
Ooh, [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] by a mile. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] sounds so spunky and fresh and original - I’ve never met a [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but it’s the most lovely combination of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and I’d love to see someone use it.
[name_f]Calista[/name_f], on the other hand, just seems so…listless.
I do, however, think they work as sibling names. The soft/hard C makes them sound different enough.
