What do you all think of Calixa for a girl? It’s apparently what the man who wrote the Canadian national anthem was called, a nickname from [name]Calixte[/name]. I’ve seen it being tossed around as a girls’ name. I think I like it, but I worry that it may not be established enough as a name? If it’s derived from [name]Calixte[/name] or [name]Calixta[/name] then I guess it would come from the Greek Kallistos, meaning “most beautiful.” I suppose it could also be interpreted as being derived from the Latin [name]Calix[/name], “wine cup.”

Workable? What do you think of it, and what would you pair with it?

Calixa is okay. I like a lot of the other Greek [name]Cal[/name]- names more, though–[name]Calliope[/name], [name]Kallisto[/name], [name]Calypso[/name], [name]Callista[/name]/[name]Calista[/name], etc. I even like [name]Calixta[/name] more than Calixa–every time I see Calixa it looks like it’s a typo of [name]Calixta[/name]. :frowning: I think [name]Calixta[/name] or [name]Calista[/name] is stunning, though!
